you could try this concept
edm shield basher with sneaks, and death stare
you could drop rogue but you would lose evasion/expose weakness
and pick up body guard for wizard guarding

Re: Thayan Knight Concept
Some pretty good builds so far. I think I am going to update JEGs and then make sure my second build with TK in it instead of BG is the one I am going with. It satisfies the RP play your sheet of TK even though the Thayan guild currently is not requiring it for the RP. Most likely a recruitment thing and I respect that but I am willing to go the extra mile and avoid the cheese on this build for the RP. Thank you everyone who posted a build idea. One of the more interesting builds I saw was by Valefort but the deal breaker on that one for me was the lack of steadfast. For a melee I believe it is a must to have that feat to not have a 1 fail. Especially since so many death spells are a FORT save. In the end I suppose we all like our own ideas the best but what others posted definitely helped me along. Now I will just tweak this a bit and then look to push this concept out after I finish up some RP ends with Kory over the next month. He has a lot to do and I can not abandon what I started there quite yet.

Re: Thayan Knight Concept
Of these two builds which one would you pick to use? They are both similar. Pay no mind to skills on either one that will and can change. Just look at the mechanical levels and make up.
One thing I noticed in JEGs when building the 26 MaA/4 BG build was that EPIC BONUS FEATS for MaA is not really connected to the EPIC feats like FIghter is. Is that intentional to not have access to Epic Feats on EPic Bonus Feats?

Bonus Feats have to be done class by class so is likely an oversight. Will link this to QC for discussion. On a work call most of today so can't look at your builds, but I can make a quick post about M@A bonus epic feats.Calodan wrote:One thing I noticed in JEGs when building the 26 MaA/4 BG build was that EPIC BONUS FEATS for MaA is not really connected to the EPIC feats like FIghter is. Thanks Chad! Not sure if it is intended. If it is then that is the server admin call. Just curious.chad878262 wrote:Bonus Feats have to be done class by class so is likely an oversight. Re: Thayan Knight Concept
what if you drop divine champion in favor of black guard on the 2nd build? Like M@A11/WoD10/TK5/BG4. Could get EDM/Divine shield, though would have to give up some feats.

Actually I have some feats to spare. I wound up taking shield bash, shield charge and Furious Charge (Not to be confused with Furious ChargER feat) That is a thought and I retain the TK as well. That is a thought going to put it together in the builder and work it out that way! Going 11 MaA also frees up having to take the greater heavy armor specialization as well.

Okay I spent some time today really going over the 3 builds I came to. I actually put all the stuffs and things in the right places according to what I would build with each 1 of them. So if you were looking at these 3 builds for a build of them which would you take and why?
I put all the stats in the notes and all skills are taken according to what I would take with each one.

Re: Thayan Knight Concept
I really think the M@A5/WoD10/DC10/TK5 is going to have the very same problem you have with your current build. The 10 levels of Divine Champion does give you Divine Wrath for 1 minute, but then you have to wait 4 minutes until you can activate again, so I think you will be a bit frustrated most of the time.
Between the other two builds, I like the M@A11/WoD10/BG4/TK5 because it is overall the more balanced of the two. You end up with 1 more epic feat thanks to TK4 and WoD 9/10 vs. M@A 23 and 26, you get the benefit of Spellcraft, feats, improved saving throws and weapon damage over M@A. You do lose the DC's on your challenges and a bit of AC, but your AC is still going to be way up there.
Of the 3 builds, I see the Divine Champion as focusing far too much on defense, gaining EDR and the like at the expense of reaching any damage numbers. Because you don't have Fighter 12 to gain Epic Specialization your numbers would be pretty awful without Divine Wrath being active. 26M@A/4BG is kind of a '2 trick' pony which will work, and may be kind of fun to play, especially with Aura of Despair helping you increase the DC of your challenges. It loses the flavor of the Thayan Knight PRC though and, as I stated above the WoD/TK actually gets 1 more Epic Feat than you get with M@A/BG so in the end my preference would lean towards those two classes being in the build.
Of course, take all of this with a grain of salt since you essentially have built the same build as me, but with M@A instead of Fighter... Gaining a fair amount of AC at the expense of ~5 AB and 8 Damage per hit (Epic Weapon Focus, Epic Weapon Spec, Melee Mastery).

What about a F12/WoD10/TK5/Bodyguard3. Has a nice theme to it, nice bonuses from Bodyguard plus Bodyguard is basically free to qualify for. Set Dex to 8, max str and con. Go for Epic Damage Reduction, gets around 22 str (26 with +4 item), 21 con, ~525 hp, good saves, good skills with full heal. Has lots of spare feats to customise - I went with the two optimisation feats, 2 knockdown feats and 2 power attack feats. Damage is good, AB is about 43 with IPA on. Solid build, works thematically as a defender of wizards. Max intimidate to be scary as shite!

Re: Thayan Knight Concept
Yeah I am pretty sure that I will not be going with the Divine Champion build in the future. It is just not practical with the way NWN2 engine runs its AI and AGRO system. Being a Tank means very little on this game and thus High AC with DR is really a waste because you have to be able to hold agro but can not due to the way AI works. They go for the weakest or the most buffed up PC every time. Will straight walk right by you for them. So the idea is to be a damage dealer quickly and thin out hordes as my Wizard cleans up the trash that happens to flit by my dealer of death. With that said the only way to get much damage is to go EDM as usual for a melee.
The MaA 26 build does not have darkling weapon like I put on it....was late when I was finishing them up so I just brainfarted really.
The Divine Champion is not really as good due to the length between uses of Divine Wrath. I commend BG for trying to make Divine Wrath useful finally but MaA challenge is superior and offers the same exact thing for less levels and lasts infinitely and is usable the second it expires. If the rest timer on divine wrath was 2.5 minutes as opposed to 5 minutes or if the skill lasted 5 minutes with a 7 minute rest timer then it would be useful.
In the end the build that drops Divine Champion in favor or Blackguard I think is the superior build overall that retains flavor for the Thayan Knight class. Has one less AC than the MaA 26. Superior Fort Saves and Steadfast to go with it. 2 less AB but more damage overall per hit. More skill points for more RP flavor as well.
Now I just need to wait for that RCR coming and not have to go back down past level 25. EPic levels suck.
