Game of Thrones Discussion (Inevitable Spoilers)

Unread post by Endelyon »

What did everyone think of the newest episode? Any theories/thoughts/comments/discussions?

I have to say I think the Arya scenes were my favorite (especially the one with Ed Sheeran).

Opening scene with Arya gave me chills. Her words to the Frey girl were just daggers.

But my absolute favorite moment was Lyanna Mormont being a BAMF. She's ten years old and I want to be her when I grow up. The little smiles from Brienne, Sir Davos, and Little Finger just - well I got so excited that I never finished this thought, did I? Anyhow their smiles just showed what I felt.

The Ed Sheeran bit was alright until they did the very obvious close-up.

Euron Greyjoy trying to woo Cersei with Jaime looking incensed... I lol'd.

And the music. OMG the music was movie-quality.

But seriously Lyanna Mormont should win the Iron Throne.

There was a Internet meme of Lyanna Mormont. Stating if she had three dragons she would already be queen of the 7 kingdoms =P
My personal view is in red, for I am fancy.

I enjoyed Euron's comment, "Here I am with a thousand ships and two good hands." Sure got Jaime's attention! And much as we're supposed to hate Cersei by now, her merciless cunning has won me over (though we all know she's going to die a gruesome death).

Also loved the chamber pot montage with Sam. So pleased they actually dared to push it into a full-on musical composition—the humor worked!

I knew Immediately that was Arya... as I watched it ... I was like awe hell.. here it comes! wow... Wow... WOooooooW! Then her sitting there with the soldiers so matter of factly "i'm here to kill the queen". *giggles*

One of my favorite scenes... Daenerys' three dragons flying into and around Dragonstone and the music.. epic. This coupled with Sam's realization of the Dragon glass tells me my prediction of Daenery's and Jon Snow becoming at the least allies and best getting married to solidify and rule the seven kingdoms... together!

This was my favorite scene by far. David Bradley did a FANTASIC job with the "Arya Eyes" looking around the room like: "Boy I hope this works... nah, this is totally going to work..."

"Tell them 'The North Remembers.' Tell them 'Winter has Come'." *Shudder* So. Epic.

It totally eclipsed the rest of the episode for me. I did like the scene with the Hound. His un-ending tragedy is really compelling.

Jaime Lannister's facial expressions are worth watching that scene with Cercei again. I'll echo what others have said about the Frey and Euron scenes.

The opening scene was mentioned in the leaked production notes earlier in the year and almost matched it word for word. Makes you wonder if the rest of them are true, or at least whoever released them was definitely probably working on the show. :?

Yeah in the opening my girlfriend is like "I thought he was dead!" to which I replied "Geez, just give it a moment, it might be a flashback or somethi.... Wait it's probably Arya and ... yeah that's probably poison."
Wirg to Pug: "Iz lat dun?"
Pugratix to a snarky militia man: "Mmmm. Not yet. I will live for hundreds of years and be heralded as one of the greatest forces of destruction on the face of the world. The only thing you can destroy is the outhouse."

My enduring criticism of recent GoT is that as they've introduced more and more plot lines and threads, the actual character work gets thinner. That said, there were enough awesome scenes in that one to vindicate my watching this series.

Like everyone's said, Arya and the Freys is a definite "YES!" moment, the Hound was great, and I really liked the shot of the Iron Fleet. Most of all, though I love spotting all the veteran British character actors.

(I'm also glad we might be beyond Deanerys Targaryen: White Saviour at last. That was awkward and mostly dull beyond Tyrion and Varys' adorable bromance.)
Characters
Amara Calder - Returned to Waterdeep
Elanatha Ariavel - Passed away quietly on the voyage to Evermeet

Maire Whitecrest - Untaken of Umberlee

The Hound is the most complex character in the show. Funny how that turned out.
