Whaaaa. Now none of my suggestions will be heeded any more ever.
C'mon, surely you have proposed many optimised builds to players. E.g. your recent suggestion of how to make the best of a Bladesinger (largelynon-buffed play with lowish CL disabling spells: a really nice idea). If these precise abilities and accompanying playing style were already provided by another gish combo, and better done by that one apart from a few cosmetic effects, would you have bothered building it - or introducing the Bladesinger class in the first place?
Mmh. Maybe you would have merely for RP purposes. But if bringing out and maximising the distinctive mechanical abilities of a class (e.g. the Knockdown with tanking feats of the BW) - and wanting them to be distinctive - is already powerbuilding and to be discouraged, I might have to enjoy those pleasures secretly... But why the character building tips section then? A wide field that probably belongs into another forum section...

But you can't knockdown while shapeshifted except with Bear Warrior class already, isn't that distinctive enough ? And you're a damn bear with great fast healing.

Hahaha. I wanted the BW to be the best knockerdowner possible in the game. But you have a point. And as I said, the roar will silence me on the subject forever.

While we're at it: the Bear shape doesn't affect the Knockdown modifier at all, right? I mean a Bear should be large and hence have +4 over a medium-sized build of the same attributes, but this isn't implemented, is it?
I am asking because I was thinking of building a 'Breach Bear' - i.e. a gnome-based Bear Warrior. But of course if it's small size remains the basis for the Knockdown modifier, the penalty of -4 makes it underwhelming.

Didn't want to start a new thread with just a quick question:
I know unarmed feats work with Bear Warrior but do weapons equipped while shifted also work the same? If my BW is in bear form and was using two battleaxes, will he retain imp. crit, weapon focus, etc. or is it purely unarmed that gets this?

No, only the unarmed feats transfer.Llapgoch wrote:Didn't want to start a new thread with just a quick question:

Roar
At 1st level, a bear warrior gains the roar ability. A bear warrior can let out a terrible roar that causes fear in all enemies that hear the cry. Affected creatures must make a Will save (DC 10 + Bear Warrior Level + 1/2 Intimidate ranks). Duration: 3 rounds Cooldown: 45 Seconds
That was in the update.

Does the bears fast healing stack with the choosable fast healing feats?

what no max amount? its NOT OP to have that effect be without limit? Hrm... really? oh wait, and thats an actual fear effect too. WTHeck!!Valefort wrote:Roar

It's ranks, so it's effectively capped at 36 if you go full intimidate, and the fear lasts 3 rounds, for a 45s cooldown.

Re: Bear Warrior: Officially THERE! Sorta.. maybe.. kinda..
i know how it caps. and you know i am comparing it fairly to what we discussed here it also does an actual fear effect for three rounds which means the victim cannot do anything except run away uncontrollably. in other words, its dead. this combo of KD and fear-roar is powerful. very very powerful. but the OWD would be OP if it could manage to max perform and intim on a race that is -2 int and cha with perform not on class skill lists that can combo with OWD. and that failed save would only carry with it a -2 H/D/S. not death. and that would only equal a total DC of +6 but would take more than twice as many SPs to achieve.. on a -2 int race.Valefort wrote:It's ranks, so it's effectively capped at 36 if you go full intimidate, and the fear lasts 3 rounds, for a 45s cooldown.

Re: Bear Warrior: Officially THERE! Sorta.. maybe.. kinda..
I never said it would be OP for the OWD, it's simply quite enough for the class. The debuff was considered pretty strong and thus its DC was limited, it's ofc subject to change.
As for this roar if it's too powerful it'll be nerfed, remember that afraid creatures don't stand still so it's not quite certain they'll die in 3 rounds, I imagined it would be more used in a defensive fashion when being attacked by plenty of enemies rather than offensively.

Also, it would be nice to get the large-size bonus for Powerful Charge. Didn't seem to be in effect when I tested it last year.
