Is it possible to change default emote color?
The salmon pink color is the exact same color used for player log off notifications. I've mentally adjusted to just ignoring the salmon pink text as unnecessary information. Unfortunately, this has lead to me accidentally ignoring the emotes of players that turn this option on. It'd be nice if the default color was a different easy to read color that isn't used by another system notification.
In the mean time, I'm going to see if I can retrain myself to pay attention to salmon pink.

The default (salmon) emote colour is user-defined, as in, each user has to activate the "ToggleFlavorText" in the "ShowChatOptions" tab on the DMFI bar. When active, all text encased in * * asterisks (emotes) will be coloured salmon for the emoting character. There is no way to disable it at your end, unfortunately.
I used to utilise the setting myself until I once read that some of our colourblind community members have difficulty reading text in that colour. From that time onward I adapted the " " quotation style for spoken text, with all emotes given in plain text, utilising <I>italics</I> for emphasis (you'll see some players utilising this method - it is important not to confuse their plain text emotes for spoken "Quotes"!!)

It should be possible for that pink salmon colour to be changed. Luna was looking into it some years ago but then he left.

Re: Is it possible to change default emote color?
If you look in the log, what the flavor text does is basicly put <C=Pink in front of the written text, and closes it with the </c> *. Personally, I like the pink as its close to the color of the name in front.
If we just change it, I'm sure there'd be others who miss seeing Pink. So whats the better option, allow customisation? Could get a bit messy, though it wouldn't help the color blind. In fact the best way to differentiate between a spoken text and emote remains using quotation style for dialogue.
There's many styles that people seemingly have adopted whenever they write, and are used to.
So perhaps instead we'de need to have customisation of what is displayed?

I hadn't thought of the color blind. I found this with a google search.

Otherwise I suggest right clicking on the chatlog and unticking the log off messages.

Orange is the colour when someone logs in.
Something just a tad darker than pink should help the straining eyes out there.

Just a tad darker - <C=#F79F81>*Looks around the Nexus.*
Original flavour text colour - <C=pink>Looks around the Nexus.</C>
Blue? To stand out more - <C=#A9E2F3>*Looks around the Nexus.*
Darker blue - <C=#81DAF5>*Looks around the Nexus.*

If it isn't obvious, my favorite color is blue.
Though a blue-green wouldn't necessarily be bad either.
