CON item + Appearance Changer = damage

Using the Appearance Changer on an item with a CON bonus damages you equal to you character level. I didn't notice this untill I was unconscious. Luckily, I stabilized

Yes, you have two or more constitution items. Each time you take one of them off, and this is what happens when you use the changer, damage ensues.

I personally hate this feature and it keeps me from using quite some items.

But I was told it is necessary against exploits? Or some such.

Yes, otherwise you can stack HP.
