Cavalier Kit not working for multi-class

Unread post by sir_blacksoutalot »

I know paladin kits are still a work in progress, so posting here to help the dev team work out the kinks. I just took my first level in Paladin, then my second level in Fighter. At that point, I activated the Cavalier kit using the icon from the feats menu.

The kit activated fine, and I was able to work through the dialog without any problems. In my chat window, I got a message saying "Cavalier Level 0 (progressing)". So then on my third level, I selected Paladin class—but it's not giving me the Cavalier feats, only the standard Paladin feats (lay on hands, etc.).

I quit out of leveling up, and noticed I had another message in my chat window stating "You may not become a Cavalier at this time."

I searched on the forums here and found a reference to there being previous problems with taking Cavalier when multi-classing. That post also said the problem had been resolved, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

This has me wondering—do we first need to actually take a level in Cavalier before dipping into any other class?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I figured out what's going on here. I should have mentioned I'm trying to test out the Cavalier kit by using RCR experience points. So despite the title of this post, the problem is not about multi-classing, but about RCRing into a class kit.

When I create a new character and then activate the Cavalier feat before claiming the RCR points, I am able to successfully acquire the Cavalier's favored enemy feat granted at Lvl-1.

However, if I then claim the stored RCR points to continue progressing from Lvl-2, the game no longer acknowledges Cavalier progression. Instead, it levels up the character as though they were a standard paladin (gaining lay on hands, etc.).

Is this intentional to not allow Cavalier leveling via RCR? If not, is there an adjustment that can be made to fix this so it works properly?

Again, I understand kits are a work in progress. Just trying to understand the limitations here. Thanks.

I think it is a known bug mentioned in another thread about multiclassing. For instance paladin fighter paladin fighter. It seems to bug out the cavalier kit.

There is some problem with kits. If you want to make a character with the cavalier kit, with the same name you just rcred, its better to create the new character after a server reset.

For example you have a character Joe the fighter, which you want to rcr into Joe the cavalier. The process is

1. Rcr Joe the fighter
2. Wait for server reset
3. Create Joe the cavalier and claim xp
