Re: Ultimate loot grinder
Spell Breach is not a dispel, you can't defend against them with high CL. But they only strip certain spells.

Yes indeed, I am aware. I just wonder how most FS deal with getting breached?
By the way, against mobs' Greater Dispel, Mord's, etc. how DOES FS23/Paladin4/Monk3 fare?

They just jaunt and rebuff, I suppose.

They don't have as many buffs on the breach list, in the first place. They can survive fine being breached.
And yeah, with the amount of spells they have, they can just rebuff.

I don't think there is a difference between a boss's chests and other chests in the same dungeon, but I think the boss itself has a higher likelihood of dropping more and better magical items along with the gold than the average chest. It doesn't happen always, but I've found some very neat things on bosses.
Mind you, this anecdotal evidence based on my personal experience.

Anybody definitively know what, if anything, stacks with a monk's speed increase? I know that hasted monks move faster than non-hasted, but what about the dash feat? Speed boost from bodyguard, etc? I know ive seen this discussed before, but it always seems like concrete knowledge is lacking.

Re: Ultimate loot grinder
Has never had more than 150,000 gold on any character in my 6 years here.. because running around farming chests every reset was BORING AS ALL HELL.... I wanted to RP not farm like some Korean MMO.... (i played lineage 2...)
But seriously its at the point now where you may as well drop the prices down on epic stuff so anyone can have access to it. Im not saying make it free by any means but why not make it less gold.. people still need to travel dangerous places to get to it. If i want a decent item i have to farm for weeks and hope for a lucky drop... kinda sucks tbh, id rather be out doing events and RP not running bosses and chests every six hours to buy that one piece.
Should be about the RP and not "end game epic gear"

Sounds like end game epic gear is still important to you, even though you just want to "RP".Wolfrayne wrote:Should be about the RP and not "end game epic gear"

The idea of epic ships was to consider introducing the idea for a character to have 1 or 2 epic items and use lesser items in other slots. If a player wants to be fully outfitted in epic gear than they will need to acquire the funds to do so.

Re: Ultimate loot grinder
Which leads us back to people contemplating the best builds with which to grind gold...
I'm thinking a no stealth, str based monk/rogue. Will the lack of stealth be a problem, do you think? I can always use potions of invis. Will the glass cannon nature of such a build make grinding higher level areas a problem (i.e. will I die too much to make it effective)?
I'm level 4 now using a quarterstaff. If I equip him with decent gear, I'm sure he can hit areas above his CR, but as he stands now (no gear, just potions of mage armor/barkskin) he's pretty average.
Thoughts?
Also, I once played on a server that had a random loot generator, but the properties on an item were removable, and could be placed on other items. Each item could only handle certain enchantments of a specific power-level, and only a set number could be put on a single item.
The process cost gold, so it was a sink (though if I remember we tied it into crafting so that if you wanted to save the gold you could make a "crafter" to handle the enchanting). It was pretty slick. No unbelievably stupid names were produced by the generator either, because "shock" or "shocking" always meant +1d4 electrical damage. So while you could have longish names like our current bgtscc generator produces, they at least described what the item actually did.
It allowed for some very specific and powerful customizations, without needing to farm forever or rely on dm generosity to custom make something (which really shouldn't be happening, imo). Obviously the more powerful and sought after enchantments were able to fetch a high price, and it created a fair amount of trade.
I could probably still get the code if bgtscc was interested.

More on point, I actually don't think Haste works on a level 30 pure monk. Not that I've noticed, anyways.
Never tried a strength monk, but I feel like the wisdom AC bonus is what makes monks hard to kill in PvE. I'm willing to bet a strength monk wouldn't last too long.

Wolf doesnt have any epic gear other than a cloak he got as a gift. He has no reason to grind out loot so i dont do it.

True. But druids also don't really "need" any endgame gear to function. They are probably the most gearless class of any on the server (they only really need +4 armor and a +4 shield. And that is min-maxing it, your AC doesn't -need- to be that high).
So, that isn't saying much at all.

Yeah. I don't feel like I've got a lot of extra skill points to dump into the heal skill, either, which I was thinking would be part of the strategy for keeping him alive. I normally plan out builds carefully and they're typically on the uber side, so trying to wing this one has made me feel like a fish out of water. But I don't want to worry too much about a pc that's barely an alt.Arn wrote:Arya + Hot Pie 4ever <3chad878262 wrote:epic ships

Getting 1.5x STR bonus while flurrying with a quarterstaff is pretty fun so far, though. I'm hoping his lack of AC is somewhat mitigated by killing things a bit more quickly due to all the extra damage.
As for monk speed, I guess I just won't worry about it. I want him to be super fast, but doing the testing required in JEGS to figure out what stacks and what doesn't isn't sounding too appealing right now, particularly for a pc I don't care much about from a RP standpoint.

true but a lot of classes are gear dependent and with the economy on the server non existent because some people literally have billions of gold lying around new players and those more RP oriented cant compete. They have to either get lucky or grind and that just takes away from the whole purpose. Im not saying make is so anyone can get the gear easy im saying at least TRY to make things more available to a wider group of people rather than the select few horders and loot runners...
Wolf doesnt need gear no. But there are a lot of people i know who do and have to farm every single 6 hours just to make the money to build up. There is no RP in Rushing through the same 5+ places for loot every 6 hours so you can get that one lucky drop or gold for that item.
