Human, evil, greatsword, and hopefully AB over AC but I REALLY want to be able to be survivable in combat. Character is going to be confrontational eventually so PVP heavy is a must.
I've played a lot of Weaponmasters in NwN1 (i'm okay, but even the beefiest GS WM's have sorta bad saves/and are basically glass cannons, don't wanna do that again) NwN2 doesn't... have devastating crit, right?
I will take all offers you give me, and humbly thank anyone willing to answer me.
Also, is there an evil combo that is as effective as Barbarian 20/10 Anointed Knight?
Or do I not understand how Anointed Knight works.

Also, how viable would this build be as a human?

Using a greatsword, obviously.

No to Devastating Critical Hit, what you get is the prerequisite, Overwhelming Critical
that is somewhat underwhelming.
As for the question about Barbarian/Anointed Knight, just go for Barbarian/Warrior of Darkness as the two PRCs are basically identical when it comes to their mechanics.
As for the Hierophant build, yeah, you can use it. It should work just fine and dandy. However, if you do not wish to follow Grumbar on this server, and would prefer a deity that is more evil, then you are kind of out of luck as no other deity offers both Law and Darkness domains. Law domain is used to get free Iron Will for Dragonslayer requirements, and darkness domain gives free Blindfight. You can get one, but not the other and you do not really have feats that you could free.
Now, it could be possible to switch for human to get that missing feat, but when it comes to your ability scores you will have harder time reaching Epic Divine Might.
And you would still need to make use of a +3 Wisdom item to cast level 7, 8, and 9 spells.
...
But if you are willing to switch the Dragonslayer for a Warpriest, I think it becomes a far more doable option. You do not have to get 13 dexterity or the Dodge feat, and as a human you have that one bonus feat so you have no problem getting the Combat Casting feat to qualify for the Warpriest PRC. As for the Darkness domain and free Blindfight, you can choose Grumbar, Leira, Mask, Myrkul, Selune, or Shar as your deity and most of these are evil deities.
As for levels: you will want to go for Cleric (13)/Hierophant (8)/Frenzied Berserker (5)/ Warpriest (4) to achieve the exact same caster level. The only downside that I see is slightly lower damage against dragons and -2 AC for not having Tumble as a class skill. (It is not the end of the world.)
So, any questions?

Yes! regarding these builds, which one has the best survivability in your opinion? I would think Barbarian/anointed knight, but I don't know the server 'meta' enough to know what builds that utilize greatswords are really useable.Comments Only wrote:

That said, if you had to craft a PVP greatsword build, that had decent survivability/AC and good DPS/AB, what would you personally make?
I've been reading all of your comments on the other greatsword related threads and you seem to give pretty solid advice, so I'm curious!

When it comes to PvE, I think that the 'Barbarian/Anointed Knight' will have easier start and it will be pretty decent as you progress in the game, you can even pull one off without any previous equipment handed over. Barbarian 20/Something X builds are pretty good.
But as for the cleric, I think that in the long run it will become better. You simply have far more surviavability and damage in a way. With your spells you can heal yourself, increase your damage, acquire damage reduction, etc. It is annoying to buff, but if you can bear it does give the stronger character in the long run.
As for PvP... That is a bit of a can of worms, and things are actually fairly similar as they are in PvP. In the long run, I think the cleric build will be the stronger choice. However, the Barbarian is often just one button press away from activating rage and potentially slamming the opponent down with their buffed up 40+ strength boosted further with Improved Knockdown. Yet arcanists can be difficult for both of these builds to be honest. So... I would go for Barbarian and play it smart enough when it comes to picking up fights.

I love the concept of playing a barb but at the same time I dislike brief period of helplessness you get when you run out of rage. Feels really gimmicky, but... that's just me. I'll probably end up doing that--Comments Only wrote: So... I would go for Barbarian and play it smart enough when it comes to picking up fights.
Did you have any builds outside these three you would reccomend? Greatsword and evil?
Also, do you have a build for barb/anointed knight? I have no idea how to construct on NwN2. And am also mega paranoid.

Re: Hi. Viable greatsword/thicc armor build.
It just popped in my head that Cleric/Frenzied Berserker/Hierophant works as well to get caster level of 30, or actually 32. You'll most likely have to go for domain picking, or just spend a feat on MArtial Weapon proficiency.
But as for the build linked out: Yeah, it checks out more or less. The extend rage feats mean that your rage will last and it will last and it will last. However, I would take 4 levels of Warror of Darkness earlier, and spend one feat on Steadfast Determination rather than on Extend Rage.
Do not take the Extra Rage feat, because there is an amulet that gives it.
Edit: the reason those Warrior of Darkness levels are take so far apart is because the guy does not have Able Learner, and hence Valerfort has saved skill points to be spent at level with a rigth class. If you go human you can easily get Able Learner and avoid the need to do the same.

You could modify this to be warrior of darkness instead of anointed knight if you want. You'll still get the heal skill from FB, so it shouldn't be too different. Swap scimitars for Greatsword too.
http://nwn2db.com/build/?274055
Change weapon focus from scimitar to greatsword. If you can go earth gensai instead of human, this build will turn out better for it. Just remove extra rage, if you did that. It gets enough rages for an entire rest, easily. So, don't worry about "being helpless between rests". You won't be, with the CON you get. Plus all the extend rage feats.
