Help with a Necromancer Build
Hey guys, I rarely play Spellcasters, I'm pretty much always making Rogues and Fighters so I'm kind of inexperienced with this.
I wanted an innate spellcasting Necromancer, more so for thematic reasons. I just got to level 16, and while it has been working out pretty well, I have a feeling I'm getting behind the curb. So here's the build so far,
Sorcerer 6 Levels
PaleMaster 6 Levels
BlackGuard 3 Levels
BloodMagus 1 Level
I have a ton of spell slots, though never use them really- since most of them are buffs or summon spells. Also not a huge spell selection. I'm thinking BloodMagus is probably a bad idea, now that I dipped a level into it, and may just RCR.
But I'm building charisma like crazy for Divine Might, and it raises all my saves and lowers enemies because of BG.
You guys got any advice, should I continue as a Blood Magus, or ditch it?

Seems like a large departure from what my character's background is though.

Blood seeking spell + blood component gives+3 CL which gives cl30.
S7/BG3/PM10/BM10 should do perfectly well.

Should I be getting blast spells? Like I said, all I have is summons and buffs so far.

Re: Help with a Necromancer Build
depends on what your DC's are going to be. If you can get to ~37 or higher DC's on save or X spells such as Wail of the Banshee than that wouldn't be a bad pick up. Obviously the higher you get DCs (40+ should be the goal for a 9th level spell) the more DC's become a strong option. Otherwise, if your summon and personal buffs are taken care of then IGMS and the like aren't a bad option.
Your a Sorc, so if you can through a buffed up Pale Master summon at mobs, you have plenty of time to hit them with blasting spells. However, as I said, if you have the DC's for it save or X is really nice to have.

Wizard would be better. Something like Wizard 5/ASoC 5/Blood Magus 10/Palemaster 10 would work wonders. Pick up epic spell focus: necromancer and all your summons will have that HD bonus as well.
But, if you want to go sorcerer, Sorcerer 6/ASoC 4/Blood Magus 10/Palemaster 10 should fair ok.

Take the right god, domains, and feats and a cleric can make a very nasty necromancer.

Myrkul would be the best choice as said earlier. Death and Undeath domains give you a very nice undead army with the spells they grant though the shadow summon given by death does suck greatly. Might also consider the Evil and Suffering domains as they both grant some nice spells.

Re: Help with a Necromancer Build
Don't listen to all these cleric toting sillies. Palemaster is really fantastic these days (too good, in my opinion - I'm walking around with a 40 AC, 37 AB, 3d4 + 18 damage mummy along with a small army of cannonfodder. All this on top of the good saves, good skill set, huge AC and soon crit immunity).
I'd ditch blackguard if I were you. Why are you taking divine might, even? Your AB is going to be horrendously low, so divine might is a waste. Divine shield would maybe be worth it, but you're going for a palemaster build, which means your caster level will suffer from taking blackguard. Your saves are going to be huge anyways with all the spells you have access to, along with 30 ranks spellcraft for +6 saves vs spells.
If you want to play a sorcerer with palemaster, I'd suggest something like sorcerer6/palemaster10/asoc8/archmage6. Sorcerer always is going to lend itself best to being a blaster kind of build, so ASoC is a good idea. Sorcerer10/palemaster10/asoc10 is perfectly viable too, and less feat heavy. And it's much simpler to work with.
If you want to build it for necromancy DCs, though (getting finger of death and wail of the banshee), sorcerer6/palemaster10/archmage8/blood magus6 is likely the way to go. Unless you want to go down the shadow adept route.
Palemaster isn't great for heavy 45 DC wail of the banshee kind of builds, though.

You can get DC 41 in some build variations. In my opinion, 4 DC is a great compromise for the Pale Master benefits.Deathgrowl wrote:

Always take vampiric feast if you can... that spell can wipe entire groups if you get its dc high enough.
