planer binding
about half the time i call for planar binding it casts and uses the spell but nothing comes from it. i do not see a roll i am failing, so i am wondering if there are mechanics in play that i do not see. or perhaps there is a bug. who knows.

Re: planer binding
This has been happening to me as well. Maybe 1 in every 7 attempts. I think it may have something to due with the spell failure debuff that pops up momentarily after casting.

Re: planer binding
I haven't gotten spell failures specifically after greater heroism for a while - though it still happens generally.
Is this only planar binding though, and not other summoning spells? And are you definitely 100% certainly targetting an area that the summon could definitely 100% certainly stand on? I've noticed I often get nothing at all if I target a perfectly targettable area that's too close to a spot I couldn't move to.

Re: planer binding
Planar Binding has a mind of its own. It is like 75% for me whether it works or not. Same with contingent summoning.
I went through a bit of discussion on IRC about the automatic spell failure for each spell, even posted about it in the bugged spell portion in the forums.
All spells have 100% arcane failure for about 3 seconds (used a stop watch). It cannot be lowered any more than it is now.
It is to prevent exploitation of a bug present in the game.
It's also been irking the crap out of me the last week and a half, as it seems to be cutting out some of my buffs.

Also, moving this to a more appropriate location.

Re: planer binding
I don't seem to have any issues with Planar Binding itself. Regarding the spell failure, all it means is that we can't que up buffs anymore (if you do, it likes to bug out a lot). Just don't que up any buffs, and click them one at a time. Its a pain (and you can't go to get food/water while buffing), but that is what we have to do with the current spell failure after spells.
An exploit fix that ends up causing quite a bit of pain all around the board. RiP.
Small suggestion. . .why not have spell failure for 3 seconds after de-equipping or equipping an item instead? I assume that is the exploit it was designed to fix.

Re: planer binding
I noticed this weekend once that when I cast a spell directly following Greater Heroism that it failed. It only happened once out of 3 or 4 times that I cast the sequence so I'm not sure what could cause it being inconsistent. However, I would venture a guess that the spell failure timing needs to be tweaked a bit more.

Re: planer binding
As for the summoning not working consistently, have you made sure there was room to cast it? I kept trying to cast a summon and nothing would come until I went out into an open area where there was room and it summoned no problem. See if that makes a difference. Also, the spell failure thing happens right after you rest so wait a few seconds before casting anything after resting. Greater Heroism has a delay applying the buff which also delays the spell failure timer causing almost any amount of server lag to fail the spell directly after.

Re: planer binding
That is true as well. If there is no room for it, the summon won't spawn.
