Hello,

Marneiros and I had a little pvp encounter at soubar today.
I cast storm avatar on myself, and his ranged attacks were still able to penetrate.

We tested afterwards, and it worked fine.

Is this a once in a while thing with storm avatar? If I am wielding weapons in my hand, does the deflection not work?

This was cast from a scroll, and the scroll was re-named. Would that have created an issue?

Not sure what caused it either. Possibly because she casted it before she set us to hostile?

How often did his ranged weapons hit you? Were they just on a roll of a 20, or what?

In my combat log one of the first two attack rolls got her paralyzed (From Assassin's Death Attack). But still they should not do any regular damage because of Storm Avatar

From the first casting, all of his attacks damaged me.

I remember it being so that critical hits get through it... Back when I played my Spirit Shaman. So I think that those few first hits were actually critical hits, which got you paralyzed...

Or perhaps the connection to the server just lagged, and the arrows hit before the concealment was properly registered.

Storm Avatar is supposed to give you 100% concealment vs. ranged attacks. Not even 20 rolls should get through but perhaps One Shot would?

I tried this out in Vordan's Hero Creator, since it is just stock NWN2 test. Yeah, rolling 20 does not seem to penetrate the Storm Avatar Concealment, with or without Blindfight.

Now, I do remember being hit through my Storm Avatar on my Spirit Shaman... But perhaps that is just faulty memory or something. I also remember the server's numerous elven archers being rather annoyed how a single spell made them redundant - so there is a possibility of a custom change here... But something like that has not been listed as far as I know. (Not going to browse through years of server updates... lol.)

So... did your character have any other source of concealment on him when you cast Storm Avatar?

If not, I guess it was just due to packet loss... The concealment effect did not get registered by the server in time.

It seems as if storm avatar is set to have dr30 vs ranged attacks.
I will have to test a little bit more when I have the time.

No other concealment. Packet loss, perhaps.. It was odd though because the VFX was present on my character during the entire fight.

On the server storm avatar works through giving 500 damage reduction against ranged. Don't ask me why

It doesn't really explain the issue there though..
