So I have been noticing that if you use an Enlarge Person spell or Reduce Person spell it treats the increases to Strength/Dexterity as though they are enhancement bonuses.
meaning that these bonuses do not stack with items or spells. Meaning that, quite literally, if you have a magic item that increases your strength or your dexterity you gain no actual mechanical bonus for casting these spells, especially Enlarge Person. You gain a penalty to dexterity, a size penalty to armor class, and a size penalty to attack...but you gain no other benefit from what I see. Meaning that the Enlarge Person spell is effectively worthless.
But I have an idea that could POSSIBLY fix this. Now, keep in mind, I'm no scripter. I have no idea if this will actually work, but it's a thought:
Cause the spells to add the temporary Feats Great Strength +2/Great Dexterity +2, Respectfully.
This way you can gain an unnamed bonus to Strength/Dexterity by casting the spell, allowing it to stack with enhancement bonuses. Because, realistically, the bonus one gets to their statistics is coming from their size. It should stack.
Just my two cents. Please feel free to comment and let me know why this is a good or bad idea.
Thanks!

The spells could grant 'Sacred' enchantment bonus, so it would stack with the other sources of ability increase.

Re: Alterations to Enlarge/Reduce Person
Temporary Great STR feats would not help with any builds that have actually taken them in the Epic lvls, so the sacred bonus would be better (or whatever Paladin spells and Barbarian rages use).
I'd be more concerned with implementing - if possible - the size implications re. Knockdown, Unarmed Dmg, and Hide & MS.
In any case, the spells are far from useless even as they are. Those +3 dmg from Enlarge with the corresponding penalties are roughly comparable to Power Attack.

And it crits. And it bypasses practically all DR except a few rare rings.Rudolph wrote:Temporary Great STR feats would not help with any builds that have actually taken them in the Epic lvls, so the sacred bonus would be better (or whatever Paladin spells and Barbarian rages use).
