Suggested Player Sport: Dodge Dart

Unread post by Bunnysmack »

I was thinking of setting this up as a bracket based league of teams that have 4 players each. Each team puts forth an entry fee of 4,000 gold and whichever team wins the tournament gets even shares of the whole pot.

I wanted in game tournament game that is designed for those high dex dodgy jerks among us that prefer finesse and speed over strength.

The rules, as I've come up with thus far, are as follows:

-Before the game, a great many stacks of 1 dart each get distributed around the field. Players may not leave the boundaries their side of the field and may not cast spells or abilities on anyone/anything except themselves.

-All wards (barring those granting certain AC bonuses, as discussed below) are fair game but MUST be cast after the match has begun (no pre-buffing).

-The only forms of AC allowed are those that count vs. Touch Attack spells/abilities (because, theoretically, this encompasses the forms of AC that help you dodge attacks). Those with permanent natural armor bonuses granted from classes/races may be subject to an AC debuff spell that cancels out the natural armor bonus.

-Players start empty handed and must rush to collect the darts strewn around the field in order to get ammunition. If all darts on the field get expended, and both teams still have players remaining, a break will be called to replenish the darts in play. Regardless of damage dealt (even hits that are DR'd down to 0) if a player gets struck by a dart, they are out and must immediately leave the field. Whichever team manages to keep at least one player on the field by the time all the opponents are out is the winner of the match.

Basically it's BGTSCC dodgeball. Anyone want to work with me to set this up? I think it could be a lot of fun.

Oh, and very important: if anyone has some corrections or suggestions for improving the game rules, please post those ideas in the comments below.

Well, if it still works only when their hands are empty, then I guess they won't be able to return fire while it's up whereas each higherlevel opponent should have at least several dart throws per round. Bad trade off for the deflect arrows user.

*Casts Greater Sanctuary or Ethereal Jaunt*
*Casts Haste*
*Collects Darts*
*Waits until only one player is left*
*Hits last player with darts*

I think your rules need some tweaking. ;)

Being a car guy made me read this title five times at least before I figured out you weren't talking about my first car, a Dodge Dart Sport.
