Parry Tanking?

Unread post by Mac »

Parry Tanking. Is it possible for say a gnome, human or halfling to be able to tank the baddies on BG? Using primarily the parry skill? Or would this just be embarrassment to swashbucklers everywhere watching said duelist get repeatedly pounded flat? Could a parry build have a fighting a chance against other duelists in PvP duels? Opposed to a build that used strength or even magic?

im trying it with one of my builds and it is coming up a little short. at the start it was fine but seemed to hit a wall at about 18ish. having a hard time staying even near my CL. gonna try an RcR to mod the build a bit. at 18 its not about getting hit often but how hard i am getting hit. i am going through my stoneskins pretty fast too.

Yes : http://nwn2db.com/build/?120349

This is essentially unkillable in melee by anything that has no more than 6 attacks per round.

Put some parry and AC gear to get something like 65 parry and 53 AC, three attacks will be parried for certain, which leaves 3 others... but you have epic dodge and high AC.

1st attack : parried
2nd attack : AC or epic dodge
3rd attack : parried
4th attack : AC
5th attack : parried
6th attack : AC

The 4th attack is the most dangerous but it's already done at -15 AB and you have 53 AC which means that they need at least 48 AB to hit you on the 4th attack (5% chances too).
Essentially they need to roll a 20 on the 4th or 6th attacks.

However the damage is poor (1d6 +3 + 2 + 14 + 1d4 = 25) and the AB is not fantastic either (42). Moreover when you're in parry mode you cannot target a particular monster so if you're attacked by several ones the damage will be distributed more or less evenly between them, dragging out the fight and thus the chances to be hit by 20s.

Highly recommend either (possibly both) Athkatlan Triparite or(and) Sembian Fencing on any parry build. Might as well gain extra AC or AB while in parry mode!

He tested them out, you can use them while parrying.
