RTA FM, and GSF/ESF queries

Unread post by electric mayhem »

How successful are RTA at landing on bosses. Basic builds i'm seeing standard FM cap out at 20 RTA. Can this be boosted by True Strike? Tackling bosses with emp RTA spells (read polar ray) require high rolls to land or is it generally successful?

Also, how powerful are GSFocus and EpSpFocus Necro for high lvl wilting and other spells? Are PvE saves pretty high, so the feats are needed to get the upper edge? Or are they typically wasted on the server?

EDIT: and is there any reason why one would pick a human over a strongheart halfling for a Wiz/ASOC/FM build?
Issues with available weapons for boosting abilities that only a human can wield (read staff)?

Cheers.

Consider that RTA doesn't need to beat the full AC. Armor bonus, Shield Bonus and Natural Armor Bonus do not get counted (so it is basically just dex, dodge and deflection). I don't know how to go in to the tool set and look at the breakdown of their AC, but if they follow the same (or at least similar) rules to PCs most of them don't have super high DEX and should not have more than 4 Dodge and 5 deflection without some special abilities... Assuming +4 from DEX, +4 Dodge and +5 Deflection that = 23 that you would need to beat. So if you have a + 20 RTA you need to roll a 3. Cast Greater Heroism (or regular heroism, cats grace or use a bless wand, whatever) and you only miss on a 1.

Most warlock players could confirm that at higher levels it's easy to hit things with a RTA. A mage get's less BAB, but more buffs, so I doubt you would have much trouble.

And yes, most PvE monster saves are rather high, so if you want to depend on spells that require saves then you should prioritize spell focus for certain.

Blindfight will also help you against concealment... It will help a lot.
