Evil based FS/BG/DC

Unread post by Brutalix »

Kinda new at building and just came back from a long break. I'd decided to go with something different then what I'm use to. I like the roll playing possibility from this toon, but was wondering if anyone had some tips on how to better improve him. I'll be going with heavy armor, shield, and morningstar.

Thanks in advance!

Since you are back from a break you might not realize that we implemented a dispel fix. Thus in order to be 'immune' to regular dispel magic you need CL25 and to be 'immune' to Greater Dispel you need CL30. This build has CL18 and thus will not be able to keep wards up. Practiced Spell Caster feat can help to get you up to CL22, but that is still too low for a PC that is quite dependent on buffs. I would recommend dropping Divine Champion and going FS26/BG4 as a starting point. None of the feats you are getting from Divine Champion are all that necessary anyway.

Also, you are going max STR, but leaving CHA at 20... CHA 21 gives you the ability to take Epic Divine Might for double the damage and double the duration. I recommend playing around in the builder a bit and researching what you're trying to do, maybe search the db and see if there is a build similar to what you are going for as a starting point.

My thought of having the DC lvls was to boost the AB and for the added saves from Sacred Defense. Was my logic correct in thinking this though? Looks like I'll head back to the drawing board.

It's not needed, with FS saves progression, spells and blackguard aura your saves are through the roof and beyond, as for BAB booost from Divine champion compared to FS it is canceled by the spell divine power. Just go FS 26/ BG 4 with epic divine might and you won't be dissapointed.

So hows this? I believe I have the necessary CL30 to stop any dispels.

Yes, if I were you I would also drop aasimar for human : one free feat, more skill points, less exp issues and you lose only 2 STR.

To take that a step farther Do 24 FvS/3 Rouge/3 BG you only get 27 CL but it open you up to gaining expose weakness which is most likely the most useful feat for any melee class. However you will need a 3 Str Item and a 3 Cha Item. In most PVE content 27 Cl will keep dispells to a minimal outside of Mords

Going human will delay when you get Epic Divine Might though.

You do not have enough Spellcraft to get your Vampiric Feast. Moreover, I would drop Luck of Heroes and take all your feats earlier. Therefore if you take your 4th level of Blackguard at level 18, you can get yourself that Divine Shield feat.

As for ability scores, I would shift the +2 points of constitution to intelligence, this will net you +33 skillpoints and allows you to get Vampiric Feast and your Practised Spellcaster feat. I would also push Epic Prowess to a later level, which would allow you to get Divine Might earlier. (Level 23)

You might look at dropping a Epic Str and the Epic Cha feats, since +3 items are easy to find for both and that would put you at even numbers again, and you wouldn't need to worry about buffing Str or Cha with spells. That way you can take feats to add an extra AC or two, Epic Prowess, another Epic spell, etc and not have to buff Bulls or Eagles anymore saving spell slots.

There are +4 items on the server, RIG, and any EDM Favored Soul can simply rebuff if they get dispelled. They just have so many spells thanks to spontaneous spellcasting.

Not to mention that since you are going to use Divine Power to get 30 BAB, and it comes with that +6 Strength, it is a good idea to end with even strength modifier. With charisma however, you might make do with an odd score and a +3 item. But considering that casting Eagle's Splendour does give you those +2 uses of Turn Undead, so here again you just as well might end up with an even stat.
