Does creature Appraise system work/Is it supported?

Based on the recently closed thread...

Is the creature appraise system considered to be working? I had impression that it was bugged and wasn't supposed to be used often. I remember that one time where someone tried appraising polymorphed creature and got wrong race and wrong gender.

That's an old screenshot but in all seriousness, if appraisal is mature enough to be used in RP I'd like to see that specified somewhere.

I still cannot figure out how to use it with detect magic to sense if teleports are blocked or not. It says to use Appraise Creature but what do I use it on? What does it say when teleports are blocked? What does it say when they are not?

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Perhaps depending which map you're in. Perhaps not. Sometimes you get the message about whether you sense wards or not when you cast the cantrip. Sometimes you have to appraise anything. Anything at all. Even an item in your inventory will do.
