Disguise Name

Darn. I know there's a few people that got this problem when they disguise their name and it becomes their real char name. Is there a legit way to fix this? Disguising my name as my original name definitely does not fix it. This bug is affecting my chest logs, consignment shop...and I would like to find a fix. It's funny because my main char name is Reiju, and my experimental char named Rei and I disguised him with the name Reiju. And lo and behold, I have 2 Reiju characters lol.

I've had the same issue not long ago. I wrote to DM and he helped me to restore my real name. This is the only way to solve this problem. Just make sure you always remove the disguise before server restarts.

But yes, this is the new issue. I remember playing a character who was disguised about 90% of play time, I never removed the disguise before server restarts and he had never had issues with his name eaten. It was about month ago.

Ugh. Seems like I will just have to pester one of the DMs when I see them.

I was able to reproduce the issue in my test environment by crashing the server while disguised. When the player logs in again after that, his disguise state is left in a weird in-between state. I submitted a fix (at least it fixed that scenario on my test server) for next server update. The disguise will now remain after a server reset, and it is up to the player to remove it again, using the disguise toggle as normal.

This will not fix you if you are already bugged. Have a DM set your correct name and delete your widget, that should reset your state.

How will this affect logging into the world? It's always irked me that when I hustle to get back IG to reset my disguised name (to preserve immersion / prevent metagaming) that I then have to remove it again to go IG.

I know that it's done that way to prevent folks from bypassing the Fugue, but surely there's an easier way.

That hasn't changed. Mystra and her friend will still require you to be undisguised before allowing you into the world. It is annoying for players in your situation, but was the quickest way to stop an exploit. Unfortunately the disguise system was added without taking care of the issues it introduced for all the other systems that use the PC's name, which has left both bugs and exploits in its wake.

I seem to be having some little issue, I may forget to remove disguise if I log and the server resets, but for some reason my name and all says my Char name, but NPC treat me as I am still Disguised. Namely Mystra did once.

This thing is a mess right now. I haven't found a DM online yet. I'm hoping they can fix this soon.

Confirming that this remains an issue. I logged off with my PC's name in disguise, and a reset happened before I returned. The game now thinks that the disguised name is the actual name.

Furthermore, upon speaking to Mystra, she promptly told me that I had unfinished business in the Fugue! I went ahead and took the hit because my PC's level 30, but what happened is definitely a bug.

That unfinished business would be from a previous death where you were disguised which cheated Myrkul, leaving a flag in the DB that your disguised name is dead. The death while disguised bug/exploit is fixed so you shouldn't run into this again.

The disguised name still sticking is concerning though.

The visit to Mykrul was, in fact, a bug. The last time I died IC, I was not in disguise and took the XP hit. I've not had any recent deaths that would prompt this issue.

Same thing here. The game thinks my name is the disguise name. I don’t know if casting disguise self instead using the normal disguise toggle is contributing to the issue or not.
