As Halron grew up a patron wizard customer of the store, called Deneros, started testing the young boy. He discovered that Halron had a sharp mind enough to be trained in the use of the Art. He had been looking for apprentice for a while and Halron showed promise. He convinced the family to take Halron as his apprentice and teach the boy magic. Halron finished his apprenticeship under his new master in good time and then continued to study the arcane in The Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors. His master had vouched for him to join the academy and he was accepted. Halron had become fluent and showed particular talent for divination during his apprenticeship, so he specialized in this school of magic later on after his basic studies. Halron started woking as a Spell Guard for the city through the academy. His family was very proud of him, until everything changed.
One faithfull evening his family store caught fire from a candle left to burn. The fire destroyed the store and Halrons eldery mother and father perished in the blaze in their sleep. Halron was attending duties in the academy for the night and could do nothing. Fire Guards had been too late to save them. As the only child of the family he inherited the burned property. After mourning over his loss appropriate time, Halron was determinated that he would follow his father and mother and rebuild the store. He would however start to deal in magical goods and scrolls. Halron spend his savings to rebuild the store and started to run it himself. He gave away his Spell Guard position and his ties to the academy helped his business some amount, but the competition in the City of Splendor was tough indeed.
For years he struggled to maintain his store. His original plan was to combine his studies of the arcane and running his store. It became apparent that he couldn't do both, and he slowly started favoring his studies over the trade. This took its toll on the business and he grew more and more tired of it as years went by. It harmed his own progress and studies as a wizard too much. One day he finally made a decision to sell his store, pocketing fair amount of wealth. He lived comfortable for a short while, catching up with his own studies, until eventually running out of gold.
