Disable Device gives XP
Would it be possible for Disabling Traps successfully, Recovering traps successfully to give xp?

Unlikely due to exploits such a system entailed in the past.

Really? *facepalm*
Just discovered the exuberating feeling of actually disabling a trap today and felt cheated that it didn't reward xp.

Can't the script script check if the trap has been removed before? Should be doable and would shut down the exploit.Tsidkenu wrote:Unlikely due to exploits such a system entailed in the past.

I'm not a Dev. I was just basing my comment on this recent post, which is how it used to be back in the day 6 years ago.
If there's a way to differentiate recovery of traps spawned in the PvE environment vs. recovery of traps set by players, then it could be considered. Apparently the recovery/disable scripts make no distinction here and that is where potential exploits stem from.

i would imagine that if it could they would have done it the first time, but for traps/locks its either there or its not, there are not a whole lot of options aside from yes or no and type with traps

Re: Disable Device gives XP
It is possible to have it so that traps set by a player wont give xp for un doing.
Example in game you use open lock you get the xp, but there are doors you can relock yourself with the skill ((really Most doors should)) and when you open them again, it does not trigger xp again. this same thing can and should be applied to traps.
Why not?
it is a risk... you should get xp for it. Mess up on recovery and it will go off on you.

not saying i dont agree, however locks have two options and traps i only remember having one
locks have; locked yes/no and lockable yes/no - so the xp can be set to go off of the locked option and not the lockable which is what the difference would be
traps however is just; trapped? yes/no then type of trap
so again, not saying i dont agree there should be a reward for it, i do have a trapper myself, but traps are literally does it exist yes or no, source isnt taken into account
