20 Barbarian 10 wod vs Dervish

Unread post by Calen »

Between two builds for a barbarian and I would like some advice which one to pick.

AC calculated with +3 AC items and +4 chest and damage with greater axe +4.

Build 1: Cookie cutter 20 barb 10 WOD main aim is 22 strength and 22 con with the epic damage reduction. During rage 700HP ,45 AC and hits decent.

Pretty much a damage sponge, can play around with shield and 2 hander if needed.

Build 2: 20 Barbarian 10 Dervish not sure 24 str 20 con, might drop con to 18.
With rage 45 AC.

Pro's: Hits a lot harder, fast runner, high hit (52), great cleave, expertise .

Con's= Only 1 x extended rage, needs to drop luck of heroes in order to get powerattack, no damage reduction, 2 hander only.

I kind of like the dervish build, but how will it hold up?
Also is 22 str-22con a good way to distribute stats for epic?

WoD is better/more survivable. You will hit like a truck during rage either way, but your defense is relatively poor. WoD gets Tower Shields and there is a +3 Tower in Avernus that grants the Monkey Grip feat. Thus you can bring your 45 AC up to 52 which will allow you to solo far more area's without consuming massive amounts of expendables.

WoD also requires only Iron Will, vs. CE, Dodge and WF. This gives you room for feats like Icetroll Berserker for more Natural AC while raging, more extra/extend rage feats making you able to go longer between rests. While Dervish is perhaps better in a party where you will be the striker, WoD is still going to be a strong damage dealer while being much more capable solo or taking the role of tank in a party.

When you go WOD you basically got 1 open feat.

Talents I picked: Luck of heroes/extend x2/ice troll/iron will/North lander.
What would you suggest for the last feat?
Can go able learner or heavy armor specialization for +1 AC or exotic weapon feat for the lolz.

The build is more meant as a solo build, or at-least an in depended build.

edit: Alternative is power attack+ improved power attack

You get toughness free from WoD making Steadfast Determination a fantastic pick.

My bad Steadfast Determination was already in that list.
I think I'll go power attack + improved, though 1 AC extra doesn't hurt with this build either.
