Shadow Dancer requires 19 DEX...

I play a HiPs'ing Gish and IMO best bet is to go the Fighter/Mage/Thief route, settling for low-ish CL... Mine is a Drow W6/EK8/AT8/A8 which gets Caster level of 25 and late HiPS (~level 24), but is pretty easy to play even without HiPS. To the point that I have considered dropping Assassin 8 to instead go with W7/R3/EK10/AT10. which would give CL30 at the expense of HiPS, death attack and 2d6 sneak dice. However, the nice thing is you can use summons to help you land sneak attacks. Downside is of course that HiPS is really the only way to guarantee sneak attacks and without sneak this build does very low damage. It can be slow going without utilizing cloud spells and immunities.

In any case, I would recommend the assassin route over the SD route simply because you are obviously not going for a DEX Gish so assassin will cost you some CL, but will gain you damage, 2 feats and the extra expense of 3 getting DEX up to 19. If you want to get DEX up to 19 you are going to have to sacrifice CON and/or STR since you can't really afford to drop INT due to the need for skill points.

dangit. knew that was coming together too easy. the hips was sorta piling on anyway. was more interested in getting the EW so i can hit targets eventually. still not sure i will be able to with this build. the main plan was to make a very hard to hit gish. been wanting to do that for a while. thought hips could be handy to make it even more frustrating. could drop SD and go WD or mix up the skill points to get the 19dex req.

think i will be at just under 50 ac with displacement and mirrors. ~36/31/26/21 attack (not counting the haste attack) w/ EW@23. the CL is still really good.

really good AC...terrible damage. You need a way to get your damage up, especially since you only have 5 APR with Haste, and likely will only land 2-3 hits per round.

Gish defense is really a strong point... ~40-45 AC is perfectly fine when you have mirrors and 20% displacement from shadow shield (50% when needed).

If I were building a PM gish I would want more AB and damage from somewhere. W5/PM10/EK10/DS5 would increase AB a bit without sacrificing too much caster level, for instance, and would allow you to divert more DEX in to STR. While HiPS can help you land more attacks, it's only the first flurry which for you is only 2 attacks (and those are the ones you need the least help landing). In addition, as stated the damage is so low that it just is not likely to work.

Have you considered B8/PM10/EK9/SD3? CL26 and BAB 22. Less spells then a wizard gish, but medium BAB gets you up higher and Bard inspiration helps with damage.

My drow had a partner that was a Svirf warlock and it worked out pretty well so that seems a good duo. Though we only played to about ~21 before we moved on to another concept... The UD was pretty low population at the time and once you hit 21 XP goes down so much we needed a change of scenery! :P

Just throwing in something, as I would love to do a PM/SD build with an orc... your CL is skewed on nwn2db. Kaedin has PM as a 9/10 progression. Your CL won't be 29 with that build, it will actually be 26. That is really low for dispelling. Not saying anything negative about the build, just want that information to be present before you spend time committing.

You can make due with lower caster level by using hips defensively to avoid eating dispels. The low damage is the far bigger issue which is addressed by having a partner.
