The Awakening of the Thunder Blessed

'Tis the entrance into adulthood for the Thunder Blessed, those born out of the blessing by the All-Father, decreed by the Morndinsamman. For forty-seven years, the divide between the Hidden and the Wanderers—two separate schools of thought among the race—has slowly eroded.

A new tradition of adventurism in the race—including those Gold Dwarves who desire to seek out their fortune—find dwarves both young and old, hoping to find glory in doing great deeds in distant lands. Less self-interested dwarves have also taken to the adventuring life, to reclaim ancient strongholds or treasures long lost.

And thus to the Sword Coast, the stout folk are born, or arrive from dens far and wide, hearing of the great halls of Kraak Helzak, founded by a joint alliance of Clans, bringing all banners under one, the "Holy Anvil," occupying the gateway between the Surface and the world below. The clangs of hammers upon steel in the forge are heard deep in the mountain, a call that rings true in the ears of all dwarven kin, luring them to take root in the rich Troll Claw Hills, and whatever else the greater Sword Coast can provide.

//OOC: Some explanation to the "awakening" being presented below:
Hidden: show
In the year 1306 DR, the god Moradin of the Dwarven Pantheon "blessed" the Dwarves with a gift, that being that each dwarf soul reincarnated would be "split" into two, thus doubling the births of dwarves into the world. This was called the Thunder Blessing, or the Thundering (linked above).

Dwarven adulthood is reached at 40 + 3–7d6 years. In the current BGTSCC timeline of 1353, that is a difference of 47 years since the Thundering—perfect age for young dwarves to set out into the world, to make their mark!

As well, currently, the dwarven fortress/alliance of Kraak Helzak sits idle, upon the Sword Coast. There is a pittance of regular or main dwarven Player Characters, though, plenty of alts and past mains, also idle. I interpret this as both lack of place/reason for dwarves to be active, and/or lack of storylines/campaigns in which Dwarves would take a "center stage" role.

It is both a Chicken and Egg situation + a "you build it, and they will come..." situation.

A questions is to be made: is it best to play to revive what Kraak Helzak was built to represent and the role it was to take in Dwarven Clan RP, or is it best to forge—get it!!!—a new stronghold for the Dwarven few, but hopefully many more, in the future?

This thread is not for that discussion, however. If you want to have that discussion, either PM me or start a new thread, please.

I have created a new dwarf character, Hurgon Wyrmstone, who can play the role of adventurer and spiritual guide to Dwarves...be it what grows again in Kraak Helzak, or what is made new. I'm personally open to either, as long as there is some Player-dedication to it, besides my own!

So I'm presenting, with this first post, an IC place to begin something new, though coming straight out of Forgotten Realms Canon Lore.

Please join me by posting a dwarf-related IC post from your own Character, or, send me a PM, and I'll inform you of what is going on.

The Dwarves Will Rise Again! Cheers.
