Chaos overpowered?

Before the update i could kill Chaos.

After the update i still have the same toon, the level and the same build. I work with the same buffs as before. And she has become unkillable or me.
She casts bigby-spells en galore and my saving throws mostly fail. She dispells everything easily. Also the respawn of her companions seems faster now. All that was not the case before the update.

I tried several times and i didn't work anymore. Did anything happen to Chaos that influenced the balancing there? Could anyone please take a look at it or say if that is wanted so?

i ve just visited her. She now has a flat DR of 15 against all melee attacks. Couldnt be broken with my Good aligned Alchemical SilverFlail with Piercing dmg....

Also the new CR System makes her +2 CR if you solo her and are above her usual CR,right?

Mansion Floor 3 is stated CR 21. you are probably above, so up to CR 23. then you should add 2-3 for soloing. New CR is around 26. The adjusted CR also gives monsters more spells and such it seems. It would also make her dispels (mordenkainen) stronger.

So, ive just tried the Balor with a FVS build....

It didnt go well....

He attacked me for 54 and 52 AB with his highest attack a round... (although he attacked me from behind for +2AB?)

I think he usually hit for 48 AB, so you were good with AC 67....which i dont reach, just 63 usually.

Seems the challenge system destroyed a lot of builds which were constructed to do special Epic boss monsters....

I probably cant do him anymore with my build or have to burn dozens of items....

That´s very disappointing....

Yes, it's really made very hard if you don't play a pure powerbuild. My builds are normally well rounded and I try to play them in a way it makes sense.

I'm actually over 23 even and I have a FvS build, too. At my level it's really a bit too strong in my eyes if not even chaos is doable anymore.

I don't always have the playtimes to find other players for a group. So i was glad to be able to survive some things at least alone.

Could the CR maybe either taken down again? Or if several guilds are distributed may there be a 100% rcr again?

So, the Balor is already level 30 so he isn't affected by the dynamic CR as that is the max level on the server.

Chaos can be affected though. She would get a bit of extra HP, maybe 1 extra AB, her spells would be slightly stronger, and she might get an extra feat (extend spell in this case). I don't expect this to change her challenge significantly.

BTW, Chaos is a CR 22 epic boss. It's a bit of a stretch to expect a level 23 can take that on solo. But I'm sure it's not impossible with some consumable usage.

After getting smacked down 150 times a week, the boss monsters got together and planned out their builds better, trained on how to use their spells and natural abilities better, and generally leveled up. PCs can do it, why not the NPCs and monsters the PCs face. Sounds fund to me! Now I need to come prepared for ANYTHING when I go adventuring. Rather than just walk in, use the same spells, attack monsters in the exact same order, and set my guy to attack and then go run to the bathroom or to get some water while my guy just does his thing.

Ive read a lot of posts about the changes, but haven't really gone out adventuring since the update. I'm excited to have the possibility of my FS build not just own the balor or Chaos or whatever. Sounds like a whole new and not-so-static game now. Love it.

If people want to group up to handle areas, they can always reach out their neighborhood friendly FS of the Red Knight. He's typically up for some good ol' adventure (Talking about Aaron).

Thing about Chaos is she sometimes can cast Vampiric Feast and unless you know the trick to dodging it that can ruin your little excursion right quick. Level 23 taking on a CR22 should be 50/50 at best, seeing as CR22 is supposed to be balanced for a party of level 22 characters. If anything I would think Chaos would win that battle more than 50% of the time.

Again, scaling works both ways folks. Simply put, if you used to solo Chaos at level 23 you can now go find any CR 18-20 areas and they will scale up to CR 20-22, alongside the loot. There is a posted list of the CR ranges for every area so there really is a lot of options you have. Go see a different area of the server, you might have fun!

And by the way, about 18 months ago I couldn't solo Chaos with my level 30 Ranger/Assassin....I even went in there once with a more established player and we both got fugued. It's not like she's a pushover, if you don't go in prepared every time you risk getting killed. Personally I am always happier if I can start that battle off with ethereal jaunt to get the jump on her. Otherwise if she gets a spell off before I start reigning serious hate I always worry I will end up in the fugue. Point being, I wouldn't call a boss OP because you can't solo it at equal CR. CR Scaling doesn't give Chaos that much more power in any case. Try some different area's and you will find your sweet spot.

BTW, this is not about nerfing FVS. Most of them if build with some defenses or even without still can do all server content solo (except WhiteDragon) .

i feel the CR System encourages OverPowered builds and FVS builds (with and without EDM) belong to such groups. I also feels it weakens the not OverPowered Builds; not to mention the RP and "normal power level" builds.

P.S.: The balor was able to hit better. He had a higher AB. Maybe he used some potion/scroll then?

It is all in your head man. The balor has always been a iffy prospect to solo for a almost every build. I often fight this guy running around 55+ AC Regen running. Cold iron weapon blessed or good aligned keen holy sword wand is great if you are LG and Epic mass heal at least once during the battle.
