Re: Poll: Revert Back to Item Level Restrictions
I have never been a fan of removing item level restrictions.
I am further not a fan of making arbitrary changes with little reward.
Therefore I say, stop messing with stuff, all the way around.
Finally, I am seeing insults like "fascist" being thrown about, perhaps everyone needs to relax here!

Re: Poll: Revert Back to Item Level Restrictions
no, first time you could use sash of shimmering (SR 20) was level 5 or 7. The SR 28 item, (periapt of the lost witch) took until level 20, iirc. which was good. Because 28 would make levels 7 - 20 a real bore, as all spells bounced off you.
the lesser amulet of the master (sr 22) was timed well too... ...it blocked most, but not all casters of similar CR levels spells.
a level 1 with a periapt of the lost witch... ...takes the magic out of the game, both figuratively, and literally... ...20 levels of never worrying about a spell?
its like this, i found an exploit with scribing scrolls for easy cash and reported it. Why? because onceyou know you can make 1000 gold a minute, the ENTIRE game loses its fun.
You say" dont twink/mule if you dont like being OP", but the priciple applies... ...knowing that you can just throw your lowbie in epic gear and steamroll everything... kind of steals the fun from the game, even if you dont do it.

Re: Poll: Revert Back to Item Level Restrictions
what belt? I never saw such a belt. what shop? and the sash of shimmering is SR 20, and i am positive it had a ILR of 5. So to say there was a SR belt with 28 SR that could be equipped at level 1 is simply a case of bad memory.mrm3ntalist wrote:It was the belt from the ud shop. I am not talking about the sash of shimmering.and the sash of shimmering is SR 20, and i am positive it had a ILR of 5.
Bad diagnosis. So to say there was a SR belt with 28 SR that could be equipped at level 1 is simply a case of bad memory.

I've voted yes because having no item level restrictions totally sucks.

Re: Poll: Revert Back to Item Level Restrictions
So, a few days back after 2 years....
it is interesting, how i was wrong about the economy. Low level items have decreased in value, but are still posted, a boon for noobs with poor gear. High level items have only slightly increased in price.
SR items are not available at auction. My guess would be they have the biggest value change.
Once per day items may have had a boost, but im not seeing it. I was shocked to find a girdle of king violos in a store. Someone sold it for 1350. But oh man, masks of the skull must be fun for a necromancer.
So I think the economic consequences of the ILR removal were inconsequential. All my lowbies popped potions of mage armor and barkskin anyway, and i think it is cool lowbies can use adamantine armor when it is still viable and useful.
So the IRL removal has added fun in some ways, but draind it in others.
in all honesty, i mostly mule to organize my merchants. Muling is a risky PITA.

Re: Poll: Revert Back to Item Level Restrictions
SR items and spell immunity items cannot go on auction. That is why they cannot be found. I dont know why that limitation exists. ( probably because the AI appraise would suggest a very high balue for the SR/Spell immunity itemsNeOmega wrote:SR items are not available at auction. As far as your observations, I feel the same way. Not only that, but it seems the auction if full most of the time, to a point we are considering increasing the maximum number of items.

Re: Poll: Revert Back to Item Level Restrictions
oh, you mean the one belt, the uber powerful one for noobs, with SR 28, whose name you cant remember? The one that did not exist? Yeah, that one.mrm3ntalist wrote:The SR belt in the shop with the exotic wares in SshamathNeOmega wrote:what belt? What can cause this?I never saw such a belt.the shop with the exotic wares in Sshamathwhat shop?I am not talking about the sash of shimmering.and the sash of shimmering is SR 20, and i am positive it had a ILR of 5.Bad diagnosis. So to say there was a SR belt with 28 SR that could be equipped at level 1 is simply a case of bad memory.
If such a belt existed, I would have definitely noticed.
You are simply wrong.
And again, if sash of shimmering requires level 5, how could a more powerful belt require only level 1? System didnt work that way.
You are simply wrong.
And ive known all the underdark items in the sshamath shops very, very well.
You are simply wrong.

Re: Poll: Revert Back to Item Level Restrictions
Let's not turn this discussion any more argumentative than it already is.
Those who like item level restrictions (for philosophical, economic, or personal reasons) have valid reasons for their beliefs, and I'm reading them and I understand them. At the moment, however, the player base does appear to overwhelmingly favor the current system -- so it likely will not change unless we make a design decision that favors the mechanic as a means of accomplishing a given server design objective.
At the moment, though, slowing down player character development or balancing the server's economy are not priorities we are choosing to focus on.
