How do necromancers survive, exactly?
So, in general, how do necromancers, evil summoners and the like survive on surface in general?
It just occured to me that for someone whose primary power rely on summoning obviously evil KoS creatures things are going to be very difficult. Especially on early level, where one LG zealot can easily steamroll them.

Well, player necromancers are immortal. So that makes it easier.

This implies that necromancers mainly survive through godmoding. (-_-)dedude wrote:Well, player necromancers are immortal. So that makes it easier.

Going to the Fugue means nothing, for all alignments, Classes, races etc. and combinations thereof.NegInfinity wrote:This implies that necromancers mainly survive through godmoding. (-_-)dedude wrote:Well, player necromancers are immortal. So that makes it easier.
It all hinges on how You decide to RP the "trip" to Mrykul Town. The easiest is to say your God resurrected you. Done deal. Thanks Godman/Godlady!!
What isn't so fun, for the hardcore types I guess, is when your PC has been beheaded and body burned and desintegrated and fed to the fishes...then it gets a bit eye-rolly.
But as it stands, our Toons are truly toons in toonville, unless you somehow become the 1 PC in 10 years that actually receives 3 permastrikes and are pushed to RCR by the DMs.
But frickin' UNLIKELY!

However, commiting an IC crime also can result in trial, imprisonment and banishment from cities...

In the Sword Coast setting most of the Necromancer you'd meet are village wizards and witches, hiding their specialization. That's why graveyard infestations usually come as a surprise to the village(s) in question.
Not all necromancers are evil anyway. You don't have to animate the dead in order to be a necromancer. Its a valid specialization for wizards who are researching healing magic, and for battle spells in general.
I wouldn't expect a village wizard to dabble in undeath related magic unless something traumatic happened to him or her, or his or her loved-ones. For example a near death experience which which has led to the grim determination never to die (lichdom). Or the use of skeletons and zombies to defend himself or the village (which backfires, and they end up corrupting their good motives), etc...

You can also focus your grinding on Upperdark or Soubar areas where folks may be more willing to tolerate the presence of your undead minions, or find a party of likeminded adventurers

Actually, on second thought, I will not be playing this game with you.
Think back on all the famous deaths and execution that occured in the past 5 years, and eventaully you may be able to find the two permakilled individuals I was talking about.
One cofirmed reaching the strike limit themselves, the other made it into situation where there was no real way out past death.
Have fun.

necromancers wear maks when trodding around undead. if they are killed, they can be unmasked, but killing doesn't mean anything, so....
