Dual boxing is cheese

Unread post by NeOmega »

dual boxing should not be allowed in dungeons and other areas that spawn treasure.

at first when i saw dual boxxers, i shrugged it off, thinking it was cheese, but whatever. (actually my first experience ever on this server was getting PvPd by a dual boxxer in the graveyard).

then last night i watched someone dual box and loot run. yay, double loot. Now that's so cheese, i'm kind of cheesed.

How do you propose this is automatically managed, since we won't be putting staff to monitor that?

it's pretty obvious when somebody is dual boxing. get a report/screenshot, and then just watch them for a few minutes. Just like when people afk farm.

Let's be real. people who are doing it know pretty well it isn't cool.

I get double treasure over you and I don't dual box.........Amount of loot in a day is dependent on you really.

Why the hate on dual boxxers? I mean really? What about what they are doing is so egregiously against your moral code that they need to be stopped? Especially during looting so much?

when somebody uses two computers, to play two toons at once.
One is put on follow, so it runs around like a summon. you can tell when someone s dual boxing, there are lots of hints, but biggest being one toon follows the other in lockstep, except when in battle.

One user controls multiple characters with multiple computers.

The way I see it, It should be allowed as long as the person can roleplay both characters simultanously.

Yeah, actually I second that.

This is supposed to be a RP server, so it shouldn't matter how much stuff or xp somebody else is getting.

Someone who wants more stuff can put more effort into it. And controlling multiple characters at once is not easy.

i would be ok with it *if* it were to enhance role play. thats why i said it shouldnt be in treasured areas but even then, dual boxing with a party is ok too.

but dual boxing for double loot is just cheese.

No.

Bumping into people in dungeons is a thing. If they control a duo or a trio, you should be able to bump into the whole company, and not just a half or a third of the package.

I think the whole line of reasoning is wrong. You try to police other people because they have a chance of getting more loot than you.

Instead - if you care about amount of loot - you should be thinking about your own strategies. And not trying to enforce somethign via altering rules.

so, you are saying i should buy more computers and licenses, and get 7 times the loot per dungeon run-through? maybe do some octo-boxing, just bring an army with me? i can make it a slave army too, that had their tongues cut out, just in case i decided to engage somebody, (which i wouldnt, because my new strategy, i thought up, would be octo-looting, so no need to waste time on rp)

Are we ignoring the fact that dual boxing is recipe for metagaming disaster?

btw, the difference between dual boxing for xp and dual boxing for loot is consent is needed for PvP. its not needed for auction battles. if somebody is generating loot twice as fast as possible assomebody playing with one pc, they will have twice as much coin per hour, giving them unfair advantage n auctions, amongst other things.

and dual boxing really depends on intention. if they want to play two characters, that s cool with me, if however, they are just doing it for twice the loot per hour... ...that's cheese, to say the least.
