Trying read this article from the Wiki. Also, you can use the forum search function, located in the top right corner of the screen and colored in read, to find similar topics that answer the question.

Activate it with right click menu.Athana wrote:What is the way and what we need for? I tried to read it but noting appen!
Read combat log.
if you succeeded deciphering it, read its description again. If not... you'll see what skill the tome requires, so you can seek out a specialist in that skill.
If the new description contains a truename and you want ot use it, cast some summoning spell on a focus gem, and enter the name when prompted.

Yes. They can decipher it for you. Also they can write down the true name (if it is there) for their personal use without telling you about it.Athana wrote:nice thanks!

Different tomes test differnt skills. For example , I heard of them testing Lore(Architecture), Lore(Religion), etc. So if your almighty wizard comes across something that tests DC 25 survival (for example), he or she most likely won't be able to decipher it.Athana wrote: and for my part, i tried to read it whit lore arcana 29,and noting!
Combat log prints which skill is being tested and what the DC is.

Whoa-whoa what? The system performs other Lore checks?
I thought it mainly did a skill check for Lore: The Planes.
So you're saying it's also valuable to have a high lore skill in other than just Lore: The Planes?
Please do elucidate us!

Each book calls for a different lore type.. architecture, geography, planar knowledge, etc. I believe the majority of books that have names are of the planar variety, but one will not know the lore type until an attempt is made, thus the planar knowledge books (if known) are a bit more valuable.
