Formian spells
Was raiding the ant lair last night and i'm pretty sure one of the formians cast charm/hold monster on our rogue. Which didnt work but shouldnt it be the regular version of the spell and not the monster version?

There are 3 types of Charm/Hold spells.
- Animal
- Person
- Monster.
Furthermore, Animal spells are always lower circle than person spells and they are always lower than Monster spells.
The reason Formians cast Charm/Hold Monster is to ensure it has high enough DC to threaten players, as its spell level is higher than Charm/hold person's.

Re: Formian spells
Makes sense, I thought the monster versions only affected non-PC races. Could be a throw back to previous editions of the game.
Kind of strange that they chose to do it this way, could just have been normal / greater instead of splitting it by race/type.
