Creature query - Greater Air Elementals

Unread post by electric mayhem »

The GAE's in Amn Mount Pass, what feat do they have that allows them to see/spot an uber sneaker?

The same thing as the wraith spiders in Durlag's, probably, which I can understand having it (lifesense or something like that). Air elementals? Not so much...

Ahh, high spot scores. That would explain it.
What's the Lore behind them having high spot/listen?

Designer choice essentially when it comes to the specific numbers, when they were made the area designer just likely wanted to put a high stealth check on some certain creatures in the area. That said though in the Monstrous Manual they are noted as having a +14 bonus to spot and listen, so detection does appear to be their core skills, and it's not completely without merit in this case.

*Shchoowsh woosh pschuuuuwh !*

"Just 'cause.", in Auran

I don't really know but .. Why not ? Creatures that can actually detect sneakers sometimes are pretty uncommon as is.

 Cool beans.

From a physics point of view. A being of 'air' would be hypersensitive to movement vibrations and could potentially be argued as having a sonar like ability to 'read' it's surroundings. Much the same as Daredevil does with his mutated ears.
Therefore, having a high spot and/or listen would likely be justified.
:geek:

Maybe.

I pop my head in from time to time :)
This.

I think I also gave those spiders in durlags a feat.. something along the lines of tremor sense. Maybe I gave those air elementals the same thing as Endy mentions.
