Favored Enemy choices?

I keep looking at rangers and wanting to make one but have no idea what the better favored enemy choices are. As per usual I assume undead is good but what about the rest?

Top five choices for Surface Rangers

Undead
Giants
Dragons
Planars
Humans


After Undead, Giants, Planars it is a bit of a flavor question really or if you want to be able to take on the dragons of the server there are a few but most of them are waaay too powerful for a single ranger. Some that come to mind are the White dragon. The forest of wyrms has a green dragon that is just one step under the white dragon. There is a shadow dragon in Dragon Spear. Wromthrax in Serpent hills. So quite a few dragons on the coast not to mention it is DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS.

For sure though you need undead. The first spot to level up is undead. The best loot dungeon in the game is a undead dungeon. DMs love undead for events.

Giants covers well giants. This includes TROLLS. At least 50% of the server mobs you will face covers this one. I think Ogres are on this list too?

Planars covers the multiple mobs of devils, demons and well elementals. Also IG Shamans are now shape shifting into a planar body. The second hardest surface boss and the hardest UD boss is a planar. Surface is a Balor Demon and the UD is a Pitfiend Devil. Player PCs Planars are covered by this as well. I.E. Genasi and Tanaaruk?

Humans because DMs love using humans in events as mobs and because PvP. Most of the server is either human or elf and you already covered the planar PvP side. So your choice if you want Human or Elf. I go Human since it covers a good portion of PvP and DM events.

Goblinoids are also excellent for surfacers. After all, there are a lot of goblins, xvarts, hobgoblins and bugbears.

i like to place elemental in that list. why? they are hard kills for ranger style fighting. the stacking DRs make fighting them a rough go.
