Warlock place
Might have been mentioned before...
But here i say it anyhow!
I was wondering if there could be some place for warlocks, where they could train and study, and gather, like the mage guild thingy.
I know its not really fit into the lore, but not having a cool guild or faction really makes it rather not get an exciting experience.
And i am also aware of the low amount of warlocks, but if they place is already being created, cool =D

Re: Warlock place
I don't think we have any intention of creating a place for warlocks. That's not the sort of thing warlocks would do, and as you mentioned, it can't be supported by any lore.

Re: Warlock place
Warlocks by their very nature seem to not be the type of people to organize together anyway. Each are all extremely unique in the nature of their pacts and abilities. I suppose a warlock who has not explored/developed much of his/her powers may ask for knowledge or aid in developing their powers from a more experienced warlock, but I think it would be highly unlikely. Warlock powers are unique to an individual as stated earlier, so the "mentor" probably wouldn't be able to help much.

Re: Warlock place
Flamey, despite the fact that there is no sort of warlock sanctuary IG does not mean that there aren't places already IG that would serve as good meeting places. Indeed, I know of several places IG that would serve well as a semi-secret meeting place, especially if you want to remain out of the gaze of the public eye. I have used some of these areas in the past and they are excellent hide outs. Explore the world and I am sure you will stumble upon some of these places. If you are having trouble finding them PM me sometime and I will give you a hint or two on where to look.

Re: Warlock place
It is as the others say; warlocks do not really gather in our setting.
In the interest of full disclosure: Warlock covens are mentioned in some of the Lore for the 4th Edition Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, where all of the warlocks in the coven are sworn to a single power (this inclusion is due to the fact that the warlock class is moved from a supplemental materials class to a primary class in 4th Edition D&D); but they are not mentioned previously (again, likely due to the fact that the class did not yet exist (or was not yet widespread) when much of the Second and Third Edition Forgotten Realms material was written). Nevertheless, our server's Lore is primarily founded in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting for AD&D and D&D 3.5, and pays little heed to the 4th Edition Forgotten Realms -- which is set more than 100 years into the future.
That all being said, you are definitely encouraged to associate yourself with one of the existing factions. Many of the evil cults and darker guilds would almost certainly be willing to take on a warlock with a fiendish background.
For fey warlocks and other, more chaotic-neutral or chaotic-good varieties, the druid circles or neutral guilds might be a good fit, as well.

Re: Warlock place
But still, wizards or sorcerers do also not require any guild, its only to study and teach others, they all teach in every spell school, warlocks can teach and train their students in the various essences and blast shapes, and general knowledge.
And to know if they need help, they just ask the guild.
Something like the five towers in luskan, only more for warlocks, and a bit neutral

Re: Warlock place
i wouldnt say there is a low count of warlock. i think i have seen quite a bit over the time here. but i agree, from a lore view, i dont think it would be appropiate. but my lore is limited

Re: Warlock place
But still, it would be cool, then warlocks got a place to turn to (If they joined) so they can come ask for help or group up, or roleplay in the guild place

Re: Warlock place
Still, lore can be bend a little for a guild of them to show up, because right now all warlocks are scattered or need to turn to other guilds if they want to join that one.

Re: Warlock place
Although we have all concluded that the Lore does not really support warlock gatherings, you are welcome to take the in-game initiative and try to organize something with your character.Flamey wrote:Still, lore can be bend a little for a guild of them to show up, because right now all warlocks are scattered or need to turn to other guilds if they want to join that one.
If your character believes that warlocks need to stick together, then you are welcome to try and get a group of them together. There is a populous "elf guild" right now, and in the Lore, most elves should be making the Retreat to Evermeet in 1345 DR, not building new settlements.
So we are willing to bend Lore, but only to the extent that it is dependent on player character actions.
I do not think our area builders will be willing to build any headquarters or base camps for any non-canon guild until it has proven itself sizable, active, and lasting, however.

Re: Warlock place
From looks of things he is welcome to have his own rpish place for warlocks, but as to any official built place, seems like he will just have to hang onto his dream

Re: Warlock place
This is correct. He is more than welcome to start a warlock guild in game, but we will not be making a guild hall for them. It will have to be a player initiative only guild.tyrion55 wrote:From looks of things he is welcome to have his own rpish place for warlocks, but as to any official built place, seems like he will just have to hang onto his dream
