PSA: Disguise to be disabled while using Storage

Due to numerous bugs, work, and overhead caused by the disguise system being used in combination with the storage system, 1 month from this date we will be committing a change to the module to disable player storage completely while using the Disguise feature.

I realize this will strike many of you as an inconvenience as I know this system has made muling items between characters or transferring items for the purposes of RCR a great deal easier, but unfortunately due to server crashes and other character save bugs too many people are getting their names stuck too often and the DMs or admins are having to take too much time and effort to continuously correct these issues as they occur.

We'll try to look into developing a method to make RCRing or item transfer between characters easier, but for now all we can do is the best with what we have. I hope you understand why this decision was ultimately necessary.

Though the commit will be made no sooner than 1 month from today, the exact date of the change going live is unknown as of yet and will vary based on the availability of someone to put the update into the game. When we get closer to that date we'll post again here to let you all know it's around the corner, but my advice would be to start cleaning items off of disguised names now if you wish to still have them accessible from storage on your main character.

one reason i use disguise while banking is that many of my characters have apostrophes in their name that causes a problem when using the storage. has this bug been repaired and or is the repair and disable happening concurrently?

Yes, this is already fixed, you should have no trouble using an apostrophe in your name now.

on a side note...
did you know that if i take "Khar B'ukagaroh" and disguise to "Khar" then try to disable disguise it does not work? i have to disguise to another random name (fjkgfka) then disable disguise to get it back to the original.

Can't imagine off the top of my head why that'd happen but I'll definitely flag this one up with the devs to look at.

Muling would be easy that way and shouldn't do any problems i guess.........

A few solutions have been proposed, but all I can say for sure at this point is we're going to do "something." This change isn't being made just to make it a pain in the butt to mule items, and we've discussed solutions ranging from making storage account wide (like you suggest), to placing an OOC storage guy in the Nexus, and even a "mail" system where you can send messages and items to other characters (your own alts included).

I can't say for sure exactly how things will end up in this regard, but we're definitely trying to figure out what the best way is to help people out with this.

Just depends on how quickly we can agree and get a solution implemented. I won't let it linger for long.

the reason behind this is i have so much stuff in my storage that if i have to take them all out of storage i will need to roll up a bunch of characters.

That is my bad, forgot to check for last name when removing disguise.

Uhm no, it was never intended and storage is an IC matter, per character.
