or you could wait and announce it when you do something else that warrants a (x) long 100% RCR.

Re: Add Evil/Chaos descriptions to Avasculate
Our mindset currently is to not do any more mechanical changes that warrant a 100% RCR again unless it's found absolutely necessary, and nothing on the docket currently fits that bill. If it ever happens (though I can't stress enough I'll try my hardest to avoid it), we can bring this to the table again.aaron22 wrote:or you could wait and announce it when you do something else that warrants a (x) long 100% RCR.

Honestly, you should just rename the spell to something that does not evoke the following mental image:

(She has clearly lost her fortitude save and is stunned to see her blood outside of her body.)
'Avasculate' is a strong spell, but I have not had it on any of my good or neutral characters on this server, and I will not have it in the future. It is an evil spell, and when 'good' aligned arcanist fling it willy nilly, you might just as well enable alignment shift so that we can have those Paladin/Blackguard/Warlocks for the 3 x 'Charisma Modifier' to their saves. Or how about allowing us to have those Paladin/Stormlords of Talos?
And yes, I understand that there are players that took the spell because they did not know any better. Or how there are those who just took it for its mechanical advantage.
So I would just rename the spell to 'Ray of Lethargy' - a spell that cuts down HP and stuns the target by making it more and more lethargic. After all, hitpoints just measure how long you can continue to fight. Thus by making the target more lethargic, you reduce the length they are able to fight.

yes. ray of lethargy. and lets rename paladins to "lords of war and divinity" and make them available to all alignments.

He supports it.
That needs another topic.aaron22 wrote:and lets rename paladins to "lords of war and divinity" and make them available to all alignments.

Re: Add Evil/Chaos descriptions to Avasculate
I suppose there is nothing against renaming Avasculate to 'Ray of Lethargy' and then implementing a 'new Avasculate' spell at the exact same spell level. This 'new Avasculate' could have the [Death, Evil] tags on it, and a +1 to the save so there is a mechanical advantage to take it.
This way the old sorcerers are not screwed up. If they want a new spell, for the +1 DC, they can RCR at their own expense.
You could use that icon for the 'Ray of Lethargy' and maybe change the spell effect to a 'cold ray' instead of 'negative energy ray' or something.
Thus everybody wins?

Re: Add Evil/Chaos descriptions to Avasculate
The problem with this is that there are no spells that shift alignment to good or lawful.Sun Wukong wrote:*Cough.* I wanna cast evull spells on my goody shoes. Everyone else needs to role-play their sheets though, not me though. I can cast evull spells if I want so. *Cough.*
So the idea with scripted alignment shift is flawed. Such spells should probably flag character for a dm to take look at it, but automatic alignment shifts are not the right idea.
What about true neutral characters that could use both good and evil powers indiscriminately?

then they should RP the other 99.99% of their time on the server with this alignment. i have not personally seen this behavior.NegInfinity wrote:What about true neutral characters that could use both good and evil powers indiscriminately?
and what about this?
https://wiki.bgtscc.net/index.php?title=Holy_Sword
it is a pretty good spell. i wouldn't mind having this available to my evil orcs... can we call it divine sword? actually no.. i like that there are spells like this. and evasculate is no where near as awesome as this. just make evasculate evil only and put a band aid on your poor wounded argument.
