Taking Guild Keys
If my character were to fight and defeat a member of an enemy faction, should I be able to take their key to their base for infiltration? Or are those "no drop"?

Guild Keys are not lootable, but if you IC want to infiltrate another guild, talk to a DM and... *Big white toothy grin of contemplative evil* cut a deal.

Re: Taking Guild Keys
If Seadin were to assassinate my Zhent (I don't have one...just an example), I would definitely let him take the keys to Zhentil Keep. It only makes sense, so long as my character always carries it.
Now...as for why my character would have the keys to Zhentil Keep...that's another hypothetical question entirely...

Re: Taking Guild Keys
It is my opinion that guild keys should not be given out except by faction leaders and by DMs.
I have seen faction wars degrade into endless "key-swapping" in the past, and it all gets very silly. Moreover, if it became clear that the security of your temple or headquarters had been compromised, would you not, realistically, change your locks? Unfortunately, actual lock-changing is not viable with in-game factions, and the DMs do not want to hunt down every player character with a stolen key to take it from them once the locks are changed "by roleplay."
Yet, it is as Tahlisar says: Guild infiltration is a very real possibility. And you can certainly roleplay the taking of a guild key (though, it would be in your best interest to take a screenshot of the interaction here, so that it cannot later be overturned). But you should not actually barter and hand over your guild key to anyone who is not also a member of your guild.
Entry into player guilds is something that is best overseen by DMs -- and by neutral DMs, not affiliated with either the faction doing the infiltrating nor the faction being infiltrated, if at all possible.
After all, wouldn't you rather smash things up a bit, steal an important relic, or otherwise have a very real impact with your infiltration? Otherwise, you're mostly walking around an empty faction hall, sitting on chairs and opening doors.

Re: Taking Guild Keys
We should just Perma kill those found in guilds that are not their own by way of a stolen key.. There should be some risk involved..
I agree completely with Maecius.. Guild keys ARE NOT to be swapped between players.. If a faction wants to infiltrate a rival guild they need to set something up with the DM team. A DM should always be present while something like this is going on..
In fact...any player that has one had better turn it over. Or I may take it along with a sizable chunk of your XP if I find you with one..

Re: Taking Guild Keys
Although I see what you guys are trying to avoid and I do agree that getting into another guild house is best done with a DM present, especially if you want to actually do something significant in there like steal or destroy something. However I really don’t see the problem if For example, A rogue, steals a key from either a dead or unconscious player and uses that key to infiltrate another guilds building to spy on IC meetings that go on. Clearly I think that if a player does steal a key somehow, they should let a dm know.
