nope... a DC caster will have a Wail DC of at least ~38, so I guess it improves your chances from 0% to 10% (I forget if a 20 always saves or not, if so it's goes 5% to 10%)...
You're better off with scrolls/wand of least mantle. That said, I suppose scrolls of superior resistance alongside great fortitude and spellcraft could make you close to 50/50...

Re: PvP against an arcane caster
I could sacrifice a point of dex based AC to boost intel enough to gain access to +3 vs spells via cross-class spellcraft, I suppose. Though I do like the idea of dex based ac vs orbs and other ranged touch spells that bypass SR.
If I’m counting on scrolls, which seems a little crazy, Prot from spells grants +8, which I assume stacks with most others? Does heroism/greater heroism stack with superior resistance? Does it stack with gear?
Does universal save boosting gear stack with itself? Does universal save boosting gear stack with + fort save boosting gear?
*Edit* the existing nwn2 wiki pages answer most of these questions. I’m specifically curious to know if anything has changed here at bgtscc that I need to take into account.

He just casts a single Bigby of 6th level, and while it lasts and checks your SR every round, he "breaches" you twice per round with a quicken spell. You will be bull-rushed, get on with itonetwothree wrote:So im kind of curious since i always hear people say arcane casters are gods in PvP. What if i just buy a least spell mantle wand and spam that thing until the wizard is out of spells? What can he do to stop that?

Fighter 12/Blackguard 3/Divine Champion 10/Frenzied Berserker 5, for a:chad878262 wrote:nope... a DC caster will have a Wail DC of at least ~38, so I guess it improves your chances from 0% to 10% (I forget if a 20 always saves or not, if so it's goes 5% to 10%)...

22 (Base fortitude saving throw: +8, +3, +7, +4)
+ 5 (Divine Champion's Sacred Defense)
+ 8 (Charisma modifier to saves)
+ 2 (Constitution modifier with base 10 and +4 item)
+ 2 (Darkened Ring of Resistance, +2 to all saves)
= 39
Or how about a Fighter 8/Paladin 5/Divine Champion 10/Weapon Master 7, for a:
19 (Base fortitude saving throw: +6, +4, +7, +2)
+ 5 (Divine Champion's Sacred Defense)
+ 8 (Charisma modifier to saves)
+ 2 (Constitution modifier with base 10 and +4 item)
+ 2 (Darkened Ring of Resistance, +2 to all saves)
= 36
That wail does nothing to the above builds, especially if these builds have squeezed in that Steadfast Determination. And yeah, this is where we get into the territory of what ifs, but both of these builds hit kind of hard with Power Attacks and Epic Divine Might. Thus the big question are, how much DR/AC/Concentration does the arcanist have? If the answer is not a lot, they can be disrupted and just beaten to the ground.
Now, arcanists could use some other spells to take down the above builds... So yeah, this topic is a lot of what ifs.

Wail is also subject to death ward, spell resistance, spell mantles, shadow shield...
Yeah. Not a great PvP spell unless you're fighting a rogue with no UMD.

Generally pvp is just bigby followed by IGMS...

I believe the point is casters have something mundane fighters do not. Options. Regardless of the situation there is something they can do. Even if it's "Drop a quickened grease spell and run".

As for Mundane Fighters, it is pretty much:
1) Stand right next to the caster before PvP even beings,
2) Have as high damage output per hit as possible to disrupt spell casting,
3) Pray to that your Improved Knockdown feats lands and the wizard turns to pink goo.
Or spam that wand of mantles...

I know the old Bigby 9 was basically an "I win" button. Does the custom Bigby 9 work like that anymore? All I know is that it's not amazing in PvE.chad878262 wrote:Generally pvp is just bigby followed by IGMS...
