I can't say I'm not terribly biased for gnomes and that I'm not planning to roll one soon (I am, actually) but 2 ecl with the removed 4 dodge (it was 3 ecl) is a bit cruel for the deep gnome power level. And the effects of nondetection aren't that powerful.
I want to roll a deep gnome too. (seriously, how to RP the 6 charisma a deep gnome has other than being mean, cruel, sarcastic, making lewd jokes and rude? maybe choose the option of super old wrinkly ugly deep gnome during character creation?)

Gnome societies are meant to be very hidden, secretive and subsequently hard to detect.
I can't see why Deep gnomes should be any exception (if not leaders!) to the rule?

Non-detection I feel is more of an RP flavour function on the server. I can't see it being too much of a problem.

I like it. But how would it work mechanically - what are the normal ways to detect Svirfneblins?
Tracking?
Trace Teleport?
Detect spells?
Would it block these things and/or others?

I like all the Svirv chat that's been going on lately. Either its a lot of people want to roll up a Svirv or I just keep talking to the same folk.

A lot of folk want to roll one but I think they are deterred by the lack of population down there. Maybe we should post a Svirfneblin thread that lists our characters a description and the times we plan to play them etc.

Maybe we can make this Svirv-mania, snowball a bit?

To get svirf-mania really rolling we'll need better maps (I.E. actual maps, not black, empty squares). I just popped into Rockrun last night on my svirf and in 10 minutes I couldn't figure out where a shop was.

Very annoying to deal with. I played UD way back in the day and Sshamath was way easier to navigate.

Back on topic: yeah, non-detection is a minor boon that might help Svirf players roleplay-wise. Personally, I'd love to see Svirfneblin just get LESS dodge. Would 1-2 free Dodge really be all that bad? *Grumble*

Now whether true or not, I'd certainly hate to give the powerbuilders an excuse to roll a deep gnome just because of the power and not because of the lore/race's RP opportunities.
People used to run Dragon Deep Gnome soloing Netherese Maze simply because its unkillable and can travel to surface easily due to

-44 wisdom
-extra 4 AC
-41 SR
-super strong dragon buffed up
-immune to stun
-high healing capability

Actually the loss of those four points of AC have not made the Deep Gnome Dragon Druids any less easier to kill. The four points of AC was just a shiny trinket.

As for Non-detection, deep gnomes should have it. I said permanent.... But it could be another daily spell for them to cast on themselves.
