Less Rain
I know the coast gets more rain than inland, I live on the east coast of the USA. However its CRAZY too much rain. At the rate it rains on BGTSCC all plants would have root rot and there would be mudslides everywhere. All the rivers would overflow etc... Half the rain chance please!!!
Also if night and day were not 12/12 but 18 day and 6 night it would be nice... The dark sucks... and it always seems to be night after a reset so its pretty much ALWAYS night time.

Re: Less Rain
I live two miles from the Atlantic Ocean and see it daily on my commute to work. If it rained this much here I would not have a home anymore due to flooding.

Re: Less Rain
I live about 20 meters from a river, and the sea is just few kilometers away. It doesn't rain nearly enough.

Re: Less Rain
I've only been here for a month, so I don't know if if the server weather and daylight hours dynamically respond to the time of year?
If the Sword Coast is roughly analogous to Europe, then on 15 Alturiak 12 hours of darkness is probably about right (on balance). And if it's anything like where I live, rain everyday in winter feels pretty normal
If this is the standard setting year round though, then definitely too much of both!

Re: Less Rain
I agree, the rain quantity seems pretty normal to me for a winter on European Atlantic coast. However it's like that year round in game, which is the issue, summer should be sunnier.

Re: Less Rain
The Atlantic coast isnt a good comparison, prevailing winds in are from the west, so the wet weather would be influenced by the water to the west most of the time. The best comparison would be the British Isles, as Valefort says, it should be nicer in the summer months

Re: Less Rain
Just remember that in-game Selune's Bracelet got UTTERLY SMASHED by terrible storms. The seasons this year are probably INTENDED to be rainier than usual, and I'm hoping to see more storms on the horizon to affect events in-game.
There's a reason the opening event for the year was "storms destroy islands to the east and people blame the Furies." If I were the DMs, I would very likely set the in-game world to rain more often this year.

Re: Less Rain
Can confirm the amount of rain. I used to live in Vancouver. Rain, rain, rain, rain. All the bloody time. BGTSCC just reminds me of home :-3

Re: Less Rain
How about less rain but more intense rain when it does come. I would love to see some heavy thunderstorms during spring and summer, and heavy blizzards during winter. At present all we get is light showers and flurries. Some severe weather IG and not just OOC would be awesome. Maybe have a chance for getting hit by lightening or even having a tornado...

Re: Less Rain
If we go the realist way then storms happen mostly in fall and winter, spring and summer are very mild.

Re: Less Rain
Is this realist as in based on Sword Coast weather? Where I live Spring rain is frequent and Summer storms happen less often, but when they do they're pretty intense.Valefort wrote:If we go the realist way then storms happen mostly in fall and winter, spring and summer are very mild.

Re: Less Rain
from an ooc standpoint, rain can tax older pcs and vid cards, and many players are middle-aged and older, so the night is very very bad for our eyes. just sayin
i understand how things icly should be, and perhaps are, but sometimes you need to take a step back, and make changes based on what's best for the players in a RL way

Re: Less Rain
Would not require any changes actually... such storms are in the weather system already but they only get used for dm events and only rarely at that.

Re: Less Rain
I vote realist. I had dream once of making a server that had 4 versions and I changed the trees and textures to reflect the season and just put up the correct version at the correct season. Now that's a lot of work but changing the rain frequency for seasons is not too hard.
