Kingdom Come: Deliverance
So... it is a RPG... that looks like an RPG... And what I have seen of it on youtube, it is basically the best 'Elder Scrolls' game released in years.
Anyone played it? Anyone looking to play it? PC, console?

Links are added for no reason at all. Just made use of the moment to share some music
I've played the beta, and I've got a copy waiting for me at home. I just haven't delved into it yet, as it seems to have quite some bugs at the moment.
In short, their catch phrase is "Dungeons no Dragons", and that's fitting. If this game is your thing, it's awesome. They worked hard to make it as realistic as possible. You up against 4 others? RUN BOY RUN! You won't win. Want to fire an arrow and are you looking for your indicator where it might land? You don't have one. Want to play this with mouse and keyboard? Get ready for very tough combat (because the combat system isn't easy to begin with, and even less so with a keyboard).
So what is this game? It's an RPG set in Bohemia, 15th century Czech Republic, and supposedly historically acurate. You've got 3 different types of characters in this game, though you can mix-and-match your skillset. There's the warrior, the bard, and the thief. Want to intimidate people though you're a bard? Tough chance. You don't look tough enough. Are you a big strong warrior, with the blood of your last opponent still on your armor? Now you've got a shot!
It truly is Dungeons no Dragons, with a huge emphasis on realism. They've done a pretty good job I think.

It's a single player game. No toolset. Though people are modding it already.
I'm not sure if it's on bluray. It is on steam though.

This appears to be the game Bethesda modders have been trying to make for a long time now.

Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance
For now I am waiting for most of the bugs to be fixed out, but there is a PS4 copy on a shelf of a nearby store, and I kept looking at it. The game should run fine on a console, I suppose, but the possibility of mods on the PC is what makes games like this great...
It took forever for Fallout 4 to get its very limited mods on PS4, and the game was not exactly better for the wait. I mean, the scaling in Elder Scroll games is something I always want to fix straight off the bat.
So yeah... I think this game needs to be played on PC...

I've been on the fence about pc vs console. I expect my pc to perform better but it seems combat will be more fun with a controller. Can anyone who took the day 1 release plunge comment on this?

Play it with your controller on PC!
PS4 controllers work natively on windows if you plug them in with USB. Not sure about XBOX controllers, but since they're made by windows I'd figure they do to.
Playing without a controller is a big issue with combat (at least, it was in the beta)

Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance
I've played several hours, and was one of the original backers!
This game is %$&*@ fantastic. It's difficult, and it's meant to be. Never have I ever witnessed a game - an rpg - that takes every detail into account. People react to you based on the condition and cleanliness of your clothing - combat is a skill that must be learned and progress. Even fighting one man in the beginning is scary. . .
The level of detail, historical realism (as a history buff) and just how much you can do and what actual mechanical skill you must have (down to things like using a grindstone) is awesome.

Yeah, if you can, I would recommend getting this game on PC. Mods are lovely. I could live with the limited save option on a console, but it is more convenient to just add a mod that allows you to save whenever.
As for the melee combat with mouse and keyboard, I just lowered my mouse sensitivity and that took care of most of the aiming melee problems, at least for me.

Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance
It is a fun game. But main quest is bugged by updates or by design. Thefore I cannot finish it, even though I have done pretty much everything else... and I am not exactly keen on going from save 279 to 46.
But yeah, it is still the best 'Elder Scrolls' game in ages.
If I go back to finish the mainquest, I guess I will start from scratch. But for now, I guess I am done with it. (Unless they release a fix to the borked up main quest.)
