Equality for both Realms!

I understand the so called "according to lore" arguments, but for me this is more about the gamedesign and gameplay experience.

So, according to gamedesign after the last update:

1) Content available
— Surfacers can freely grind in every single surface area and in about half of the underground areas, they have access to likely 80% of content.
— Underdarkers have access to most of underground areas (but not all (!)) and to none of surface areas, they have only about 30-40% content available.

2) KoS rule
— Surfacers can freely grind the Upperdark and visit any underground cities/towns, they can not be killed on sight there, which means if the surfacer doesn't want to interract with UDers (s)he have the full right to ignore them (and that happens pretty often).
— Underdarkers can be freely killed on sight/permastricken anywhere above the Upperdark (in about 60-70% of the server areas).

3) Typical roleplay
— Surfacers are free to roleplay themselves in-game and it won't break the lore.
— According to lore, most drow are vile and cruel, and roleplaying such characters is pretty challenging, and this is not only because most players don't see the difference between IC and OOC conflcits. UDers just have no instruments to do anything hostile against the surfacers (see #2). And if most UDers will just roleplay themselves it will actually break the lore.

4) Quests
— Surfacers have plenty of quest with meduim reward, they can also do quests in Rockrun.
— Underdarkers have less quests, but they are more rewarding (and that was fair). But after the last update some quests became impossible to do for low level characters (Basilisk egg and Soil samples). UDers can do quests at Soubar, but once again see #2.

5) Diversity
— Surfacers can visit nearly everything they want, they can chat at FAI or Eastern farlmands, visit old caves and forgotten keeps, small villages and respledent castles, green fields and snowy mountains, Upperdark tunnels after all.
— Underdarkers have nothing but caves.

6) Races
— Surfacers have access to much more races, most of them are ECL adjustment free.
— The main Underdark race (drow) has ECL+2, so do svirfs. Tanarukks and duergars got penalty as well, the only races without penalties are half-drow and deep imaskari (DI is the weakest race on the server in my opinion).

7) DM events
— Surfacers have regular DM events, the campaign is run for surfacers.
— I can't say that Underdark dwellers have less DM events — they don't have them at all.

Read this again and try to tell me that surfacers are not prievelged (or UDers not discriminated, if you like). Those "but according to lore..." arguments is a bad excuse for one simple reason.
In original DnD most games were played by a group of players (analogue of surfacers) who were figting the evil/making their way to glory and fame. The drow community or orc tribes were either some abstract evil or the real evil the heroes are fighting against.
BUT! On the server those vile drow or merciless orcs are played by the same people. We are all humans and we want equal rights.

The discrimination existed but it was manageable and had some compensation (like the better quests). After the last update it got way too bad. I understand those points about "but in the past there were constant drow raids on the surface...". But you are not living in the past — you are living right here and right now. And right now there are NO drow raids on the surface but rare exceptions. What we really see right now is that surfacers are grinding the Upperdark on the regular basis, protected by the shield called "server rules". What we really see is that Underdarkers are getting more and more restrictions.

We can't grind at Ogre caves (while surfacers can), what is next?! Perhaps you want to turn Underdarkers into KoS race in the Upperdark, and allow surfacers to grind Sshamath guards? I won't be surprised to actually see it.

I don't want to resurrect the old good drow crusades, all I want is something looking like equality! You need a neutral zone? Fine, expand it to the northern surface territories and it's a deal. Surfacers can freely grind the Upperdark with no consequences? Alright, I welcome fellow drow at Troll claws. Or perhaps you don't want to give Underdark races more freedom? That is fine too, but then let drow kill on sight everyone who goes anywhere below the Ogre caves.

Make the Underdark Great Again!

P.S. mechanical restrictions are really bad, please remove them.

Underdark characters make up far less than 40% of server population, so it kinda makes sense that surface PCs have more areas available to them.

More people indicated via vote that they prefer the restrictions, I do not think they're going to be removed.

This is Baldur's Gate: The Sword Coast Chronicles, centralized around Baldur's Gate and the surrounding environs, in the era just before the events of the famed 1998 PC Title, Baldur's Gate.

I think UD players should be grateful there is an Underdark period.

LESSER DROW
Lesser drow have the following racial traits.
Racial Abilities: These traits are in addition to the standard elf

• +2 Dexterity, –2 Constitution: The lesser drow have ruthlessly
selected for agility at the expense of hardiness over countless
generations. These adjustments replace the ability adjustments
given for elves in the Player’s Handbook.
• Darkvision: Lesser drow can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision
is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal
sight, and lesser drow can function just fine with no light at all.
This ability replaces the low-light vision noted for elves in the
Player’s Handbook.
• Weapon Proficiency: Lesser drow are automatically proficient
with the hand crossbow, rapier, and short sword. These proficiencies
replace those of standard elves.

I'm not sure who the OP is but his constant complaints are a sign that he needs some type of answers so rather than troll his/her post and not give them the constant run around or troll answers. Why not PM him/her and talk to them about it directly? (? For staff as well.)

rather than give borderline troll answers why not put forth something that can help solve the issue?
