Karma monks
Hey guys,
Im trying to build a drow kama monk and am wondering if I could get a bit of help. Here's a build I've been playing with, please critique it =]. It was an alternative to a sneek dmg based version that we see commonly. I dont have monk 11 for greater flurry but the higher then rogue type ab kind of makes up for it.
Edit: Might be worth swapping out the 2 weapon defences for blind fight, bonus dex point and epic weapon focus kama
http://nwn2db.com/build/?285400
Is it better to go down the path of rogue/monk/sd (or assasin) instead?
Is it possible to get a decent dual kama monk build with wilderness stalker?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Karma monks
Against crit immune enemies it will struggle mightily... Against non-crit immunes it will do ok.
Monk 7 offers you nothing.. Drop it for Assassin 9 for an extra d6 death attack.
M11/R10/A9 is going to perform better (epic precision, blinding strike, more sneak damage, etc.) but it sounds like you are looking for something a bit different than that, which is fine. Personally I think Weapon Master costs too much to be worth it and you're better off going for F12 to get Epic Weapon Specialization and Melee Mastery. F12/M9/A9 for example or F12/M6/A9/NWN3 would be decent options instead of Weapon Master. This also opens up many feats to get things like CE/Deadly Defense to help pump your damage a little.
Another possibility would be F14/M11/SD5 which wouldn't have sneak damage at all, but would have Epic Dodge and Greater Flurry for 15 APR.

Re: Karma monks
Taking Rogue at 1 will give a bunch more skill points and alternating Rogue and Monk levels will allow you to max things like UMD and Disable Device. Blindfight is important if you want to PvP, but otherwise Blinding Strike would be a decent pick up. In epics, it might be worth it to drop one of the Self Concealment Feats for blinding speed, unless you have access to plenty of haste use/day items. The build with Greater Flurry is at 15 APR, under haste that is 16 which gains a 6th attack in the first flurry (and thus a 6th sneak attack). Blinding Speed gets four uses / day for 10 rounds each which isn't too shabby. That plus a couple 3/day haste (10) items in your inventory and you'll have quite a few opportunities to getting 6 sneak attacks out of HiPS. Your sneak damage average will be ~28 per hit, so 140 sneak damage in the flurry with 5 APR, 168 w/ 6. R19/M3/A8 will do more damage per round (still gets 5 sneak attacks out of stealth, but at 14d6 per or ~245 sneak damage) so overall would be a better combo if you are going the sneak damage route. Still, the idea of permanent self-concealment over getting Epic Dodge is an intriguing one... You are required to burn one of your rogue bonus feats on Improved Evasion to qualify, but R19 is giving you another one so should be able to still get the full 40% concealment.Sun Wukong wrote:http://nwn2db.com/build/?285444 <= Just leaving this here...

common enough that you could start a collection and have 4 or 5 by 30 at 3 uses a piece and if dispelled just reapply while hips... rinse... repeat.
epic dodge+displacement+SA.... teamwork. i like it.

Re: Karma monks
yeah, but each use is either 5 rounds or 9 rounds, so it is kind of a pain to reapply nonstop, especially with a non-STR based character. 40% always on is pretty nice, though I still opt for epic dodge. Just apply displacement for boss fight...

Re: Karma monks
Flanking, add boots of haste and you got 16 attacks per round, and thus you alse get 6 attacks from HiPS. Monk 9 gives you Improved Evasion that is required for Self-Concealment, and two more monk levels give Greater Flurry of Blows for extra attacks without AB penalty, you also get +2 Monk AC, and +30 to your movement speed.Born2BeWild wrote:why 11 monk tho? 3 monk is enought to get 5 attacks from hips. something like 8 asn 19 rogue 3 monk gonna get same 40% self conseal but 3 more feats and 14d6 vs 8d6

M11/F14/SB5 is good also, uses intelligence for damage. Wicked XP penalty + ECL.

In the original NWN attacks per round were limited to 15. Isnt that the case in NWN2?

Shouldn't that be 18?chad878262 wrote:Nope, The build AC81 posted can reach 17 APR.
BAB of 26+, which gives 6 attacks per hand. 12 attacks
Greater Flurry of Blows, gives 5 attacks. 17 attacks.
Haste gives an extra attack. 18 attacks?
