This is why you go vanilla Ranger with such a build. Yest the 13d6 traps from Hunter are nice, but since the DC is low they are less appealing (especially if enemy has evasion). Ranger gets Rapid Shot at 2 and Manyshot at 6. Thus you could go Ra6/A8/F3/EA3 by 20, which has the downside of spending an epic feat on Ranged Mastery, but the upside of getting HiPS at 14... Or you could go Ra6/A7/F4/EA3 at 20, which allows an extra Epic Feat for something else, but delays HiPS until level 21. Hunter getting Manyshot at 10 delays your best feature (HiPS and Manyshot) until level 24 at best which will make leveling much less fun.
I agree. The really nice thing about Hunter is the versatility of getting Manyshot and Greater Two Weapon Fighting, which also means sword 'n board is available. Good versatility but less power. Hunter also gives Uncanny Dodge, which can round out a build. Assassin gets Uncanny Dodge so it doesn't help in this case. Anyway, I agree with your analysis.

Wisdom based Zen Archery using Rogue or Phantom 3/Cleric 7/Darkfire Disciple 10/Hierophant 10. Clerics just have so many different spells that add damage, and summons, so you can get the +5d6 Sneak Attack dice reliably too. What was it? 40+ damage per hit? You do not even need Rapid Shot or Manyshot...

Basically, mostly dexterity based Barbarian 21/Asassin 9 could work too.

Traveled with a sling + shield wielding halfling that had paladin in the build, if not mostly paladin. They were self buffing for insane damage on normal hits. Bonus damage was mostly Magical / Divine. Looked like they may have had some cleric spells in there too.

Paladin's and Cleric have Divine Favor for +3 magic damage. Paladin's spellbook also has Bless Weapon which is +2d6 Magic damage against undead. Epic Divine Might is an option, but you can actually go for high charisma build that makes use of regular divine might. Not to mention how Paladins do get that +8 to both charisma and strength from their spells. Use Manyshot to double your damage per hit.

Bgtscc assassin class incorporates Avenger, meaning it is not alignment restricted.

Pal/Assn is both possible and legit.

Paladins need their buffs, so... a mere dispel will reduce the damage output.

What attribute distribution would an EDM slinger have? Manyshot requires 17 Dexterity.

legit as long as you don't use poison...though I can't imagine death attack being considered 'honorable combat'... Not sure how 3.5 lore (much less 1e/2d lore) would allow for a Paladin/Avenger. 5e allows it, but before that I don't think so (though never played 4e).

No one said it was a good RP concept, just that mechanics allow it. :lol: :lol:
