They said they will eventually remake all the models - they changed their minds since the fans requested that item the most on Trello boards. With that, fixing the multiplayer client and availability on Steam will be more than enough to breathe new life into the game.

I don't think they will update the ruleset, but I can live with that. NWN1 for me was the better game, but the graphics were really hard to look at. I'm not the one for whom the graphic aspect of the game is the most important, but man it was really bad. This will hopefully fix it.

Really......

I've looked the whole changes... Nwn2 is still much better

Graphics improvements? Where... Vibrance and contrast XD ok... Wow lol i was playing it hd already 2024 px per 1600 or something... 4:3 but damn hd with crapy polygones raw square hands XD... For me... No improvement there

Ok now they have corrected some issues the original had... so what

The real question now... Because the initial game is the same but some little add on. So why play it again? 40 hours of new content... meh... maybe

For me bgtscc if far better, the comunity here have worked hard as hell to make something special, unic, a jewel If I can say.

True, melee combat visuals were better then nwn2 as some others things but

But never found anything like here (bgtscc) since ultima online on zyx server...

Those dm tools here and rp possibilities here are almost endless

Never saw that on nwn1... so unless something at least equal to here or better sort out... then MAYBE...

The changes they made are really for those that run the server and nothing else. I wonder what what the players might think about buying a game again which did not actually change the gameplay features and I doubt that the NWN 1 community (which overall is still bigger than the NWN 2 community) did not mind the existing graphics. There are no new classes, feats, skills, races which also means that the servers will still have to rely on their limited custom class features... or whatever they can offer there. It is a great boost for server owners, builders and admins though with the multiple core support and the IG hak downloader which is possibly the only feature that they took over from NWN 2.

Anyone try the game since it was released today?

I am curious to what folks think.

Installing the bundle now(comes with 2 new modules, Pirates of the Sword Coast and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr), will give it a good run over the next day or two... yet another excuse not to log in to the server
There are no level 30's, only level 20's with benefits...

Bought the whole bundle for 40€. It seems to work fine, UI is better and shading/lighting. No major graphics updates, but it runs really smoothly and with addition of Workshop I believe the modders will work wonders with the game.

Are the PWs compatible? When I tried it the PWs were not compatible with the EE

I believe they are not compatible, but eventually they will move to EE (I know Arelith has moved).

They are "Mostly" compatible but need some workaround.

I'm playing the OC at the moment on NWN1.

To be honest, not much has changed. But for the script team and build team of any nwn1 server it's for the best.

I tried playing nwn1 again. It's um... wow it's old... and the best servers are not updated for the EE. There is a server for the Areleth PW if that's your thing, but the Ravenloft server doesn't work with the EE without some work, but I did get it working.

The camera feels very clunky and EVERYTHING is dialog driven. The RP on there seems top notch but.. I can't personally tolerate the ancient feel of it. However I can play nwn1 and nwn2 simultaneously now =P

PS if they ever made a NWN2 EE I would be happy with just the 4gb limit lifted. Is this something as simple as a 32 bit variable that maxes at 4gb?

There is a conversion underway to replace the underlying NWN2 engine.

Yeah, after playing for couple of hours I have to say I'm a tad disappointed. The game really looks ancient, it hasn't aged well at all. They should really update those blocky models.

That would require some actual effort and talent.

But yeah, early '3d' games just do not age well. For example, there is this game called 'the Longest Journey' and everyone who has played it has had great things to say about it.

But these are the in game graphics of it:

Those are actual in game screenshots at the 640x400 resolution the game runs at. Just open the images into a tab and zoom in. The game just looks hideous, and the in game models are attrocious... while the backrounds are somewhat passable. I want to play it, but 15 minutes is enough to turn my face away.

But back to NWN1, I made fun of its blocky character models even when it came out. The old infinity engine games just looked far superior and had far bigger area sizes and more monsters. I really wouldn't mind some IWD1 or IWD2 based PW to play on... But can you imagine the effort needed to make good looking areas? Technically you could get by pasting some stock stuff, but everything would kind of need to be 'hand drawn' first.
" I am no longer here, the elves of the Sword Coast are just far too horrible... "
- Elminster, probably.
