New Commission! Mi-Le, as
the World!

The world card is one of accomplishment, travel, completion and integration. I thought it would be the most fitting for Mi-Le for a few reasons: Mi-Le has done a lot and traveled a lot in his life. I also get the impression that he is very at one with himself and if he hasn't attained spiritual enlightenment, he is at least close to it.
In his card, I have him balancing between two worlds, one grounded and down to earth and the other in the sky and sort of lofty. His right foot rests on the world on the bottom, representing the travel he's done. His right hand reaches for the world in the sky, representing his aspirations of enlightenment. Despite the challenging pose, Mi-Le has achieved balance (another aspect of the original tarot card).
The original World Arcana features four figures (an angel, an eagle, a bull and a lion) in the corners of the card; I couldn't figure out a way to incorporate them naturally, but as they were intended to represent (among other things) the four elements, I chose to represent the elements through the background:
- Sunlight pours down on Mi-Le from above, representing fire. The color of the leaves also suggest it.
- Waterfalls cascade in the distance, representing water.
- The cliffs and the world beneath Mi-Le's feat represent earth.
- The wind (as depicted in the bend of the trees and the leaves blowing past) represents air.
Angevere already did a
meditative Mi-Le that is so amazingly good, but it made me want to do something different, so Mi-Le's pose comes from me wanting to show his mastery of the martial arts and to have him in something more kinetic.
