In the small hours of the night a man can be seen leading a metallic-sheened horse out of the gates of the Chapterhouse. They both seem ready for a long journey and more than likely straying away from the general safety of guards and walls for a time. He hefts himself, outfitted in old dingy armor and a hood sported well over his features, onto the horse's back and into the saddle.

A figure in a bright tunic sporting the heraldry of the Order of the Radiant Heart follows him as far as the road as he buckles the last of the equipment onto the horse. "But what do I tell them, ser?" His gaze lifts to the hooded figure.

Golden-flecked eyes tread downward in contemplation as a slight drizzle of rain begins it's decent. A crack of thunder peels from the hills in the distance. "Tell them," he begins, his tone careful and hesitant, "If they have need of me, Send. That is the only thing I will answer."

Confusion wrinkles the young man's brow as he gives the horse's quarters a good pat in farewell. "Nay letters, Lord Al'maire?" He asks in an inquisitive tone.

"They will not be read," the older knight responds as his gaze turns upon the road that leads to a path of darkness. "Let them pile up. Just put them on my desk."

The squire steps back a few paces and bows toward the man on the horse, fist to his heart in farewell. "A battle-death is a holy ending."

A small curve of the paladin's lips is offered in exchange as he takes the reigns of the horse into gloved hands. "If it is a war they want. It is a war they will get, Squire. Dawn's warmth keep and dawn's colors inspire until our paths cross again."

The horse snorts as Eldarian turns the reigns briefly and a soft click is heard from the man's tongue as they begin their trek elsewhere; the air around him slowly turning terse and brooding.

[[ OOC: As of now Eldarian will no longer ICly respond to letters that are sent to him. If someone would like to RP with Eldarian feel free to Send to him either IG or in a PM and we can find a day/time to meet up! ]]

An injured and frost-ridden Grand Knight Al’maire is seen running down the road toward the Chapterhouse with a determined stride and the fierce whipping of his golden cloak behind of him.

Once he slams past the Chapterhouse’s gates, his shouts can be heard bellowing over the walls with an urgent command. “To arms!” He harkens and the ringing of steel is heard as weapons are brought forth. “The devils have found a way within the Chapterhouse.” He calls to the men patrolling. “Spread the word! Check every nook and cranny inside. Search the land and the well. Make sure none of them crawl up from the depths they reside or so help me!”

He then smashes into the Chapterhouse’s doors with an armored shoulder, making it fly open and the same order is repeated to those standing watch nearby. The knights seem on high alert and despite the intensity and temperament, all shudders to a dead quiet within.

An eerie sound from the Chapterhouse’s courtyard would greet those in the Farmlands this morning.

With the rising sun would come the perfectly timed boom of weapons against shields; quick and rhythmic like the beating of a heart. It was the calling of war.

A knight in resplendent golden armor lifts one hand into the air, the first tendrils of sunlight catching at the ends of the fingertips. The beating drowns into silence as all eyes fall upon him to continue his speech.

"The path we have chosen is one full of treachery and hazards," he begins with a crinkled brow as he regards the unflinching knights before him. "But we will never choose the path of surrender or submission against evil and it's counterparts." His hand falls to his side as the soft light of the dawn begins to crown his blonde hair.

"So when your face is marred by dust, when you can barely see through the sweat and blood on the battlefield, remember that you still strive valiantly for those innocents you promised to protect. Know that you endeavor to do good deeds and have great devotion."

The light would trickle across his bronzed features slowly, mingling and fighting down the shadows of night. "In the end know that you have spent yourself for a worthy cause and if there is failure there is also the warmth of triumph. For you have dared greatly and you shall never know a place to rest beside cold or timid souls that know not the taste of victory nor defeat."

Eldarian slams his fist against his shield as the light begins to glint off his armor. “The courage of one can change the destiny of many!” He roars and the chant of his knights follow long after.

*A Rider on horseback approaches the compound of the Radiant Heart. The Rider wears the Cloak of the Silver Rose. He could be heard to say, "I have a message for Grand Knight Eldarian Al'maire from Knight General Seth Siger and the Silver Rose", as he hands the guard a rolled parchment bearing the Seal of the Order of the Silver Rose. He then can be seen riding back towards the South.*

A lightly robed young aasimir walked quietly into the entry way, resting a wax sealed scroll with no notable seal marking of anyone known just a imprint of a sun like symbol. Settling it down before departing in hopes that those who could use it pick it up.

[parchment]May this information let it be true to aid those that need it. I Came across a bard at the friendly arms in that Pulled myself and a Miss Lylan a sun elf aside to speak to us about the this Devil invasion and a possible plan to deal with them.

There is a trade house, called the twin daggers just outside a place called An. That is buying silver, that he says would be a place to sell most silver now offering more for it then around here. Perhaps this can be used for later or now if silver is needed to push back these devils more.

Second, this male bard that was called Sethilon seems to believe that this so called troll invasion was under the devils prod merely to test the coast and it's peoples strength and dwindle their hopes of fighting back.

Last but not least Mister Sethilon believe that this devil invasion is starting to become static and a weakened force. I am unsure exactly how to take this as I've only just arrived at the coast to be alerted to these lands trouble.

I hope this letter can be of any use to those that need it. Miss Lylan believes it's all fake due to a questionable nature of a bard. But if this is even a small hope, may it spread quickly.

Light guild you,

Trielindra Irsolen[/parchment]

A simple letter had been left with the guards at the Radiant heart, a waxed seal without inscription upon it. The name on it was 'Lord Eldarian Al’maire'

A missive is sent to the Order of the Radiant Heart, hand delivered by a redhead who requests it be given to Lord Al'maire directly, before she teleports off in a hurry.

The Mantle is Passed On

Unread post by Miasmata »

Large, leather clad hands braced themselves against a fence where Eldarian leaned, overlooking pastureland in a casual way. The wood rasped against his grip, the grain of it washed with gray in the hour just before the sun rose to illuminate the proper colors of the landscape. He bowed his head in contemplation, his bearing strong but gaze downcast as memories cascaded over him.

His expression revealed only peace and fondness as his flooded-gold gaze became unfocused. He called to mind each of his Brothers and Sisters within the Chapterhouse - dutiful students, seasoned companions in arms that made his smile upturn. Those who had fallen in duty, too, he conjured up in memory. Though their sacrifice caused a pang within his heart, even then the line of the paladin's shoulders remained at ease. Sure.

Ser Arnemeiger broke from their brotherly embrace to hold Eldarian at arm's length, looking upon him directly. "You will do well here, I know..."

Eldarian's gaze lifted as the sun began to crest the horizon, the ghost of his deceased sponsor tickling at his mind just as the breeze brushed his exposed skin and spun-gold hair. His cloak rippled with subtle movement.

"If I were no longer in seniority, you would be confident to stand alone in the role?" Ser Arnemeiger asked of him as he pulled a chain from his neck filled with iron keys only to gift it to Eldarian moments later.

"If it is willed. Yes." Eldarian responded with some concern toward Anthem, confidence and humblenss nevertheless threading together in his tone...

The Lathanderite breathed in deeply as the farmlands began to glow with the dawn's arrival. His fingers shifted upon the fence railing, curling a bit tighter around the upper rung with a slight creaking sound. The scent of damp farmland rose to greet him as the sun's beams touched it.

Anthem gestured an open gauntlet in the sign of Torm, the rain pelting his brow and fur clad shoulders as he regarded Eldarian. "Stay the righteous path," he bid firmly, unbothered by the wet that had doubtless soaked him through.

Eldarian watched him for a very long moment in return before moving to plant a fist to his heart. "Dawn's warmth and grace until we meet again, Ser Arnemeiger," he returned, darkened brows crinkling against the downpour.

Ser Arnemeiger saluted Eldarian in like manner as he began to march past, gaze stern but sorrowful, a wisp of apology in his glance that danced away as soon as it had appeared. Flint overtook it once more as he tipped a nod, and he made his departure away from the Chapterhouse...

One of Eldarian's hands drifted up to clasp his holy symbol as the vestiges of the memory bled way. "I have done as promised," he murmured to his memories and to his God alike. The words resonated in the early morning atmosphere gently, the otherworldly hum of his voice causing them to linger. "But it is time for a new beginning," he concluded.

The paladin pushed from the fence and stood to his full height as another smile shaped his visage, reassured and hopeful. Measured strides took him away from the Chapterhouse and the lone figure of another that emerged from there, holding the keys to the Order. The past would no doubt repeat itself, but a new path was the calling of his Lord. He saluted the breaking dawn.

Nearest the bustle of the noonday roads, a strangeling woman delivers a nigh-pristine envelope to the gatekeepers of the Radiant Heart. It's a stark contrast to her ne'er-do-well appearance, but she maintains an air of modest formality as she asks it be passed on to one Ser Gaven Arkalis.
Esteemed Ser Arkalis of the Radiant Heart,

An armswoman with affiliation to Candlekeep, although not representing them in an official capacity, has offered her assistance in the bleak days ahead. If you are already introduced, she is called Aesa and is recognizable by dwarf rune armor, a mature face, and dark hair.

She has expressed a desire to serve on the front lines where her skillset is most complementary, preferring bladecraft over things of a magickal inclination.

You are the most capable leader among us in matters of warfare, and I suggested that your guidance would suit her abilities best. In my haste and my negligence, I wish to offer you my humble apology if you would have preferred your name remain unspoken.

I will endeavor to seek you out within the next tenday, assuming the Commander of the Northern Watch does not pass on the specifics afore my visit. The Commander is all the more familiar with this woman, however, so her counsel would be preferable to mine.

Honorably,
Batz. Borte-Suul
