Outcome:
The adventurers return from a distant cave. Alive, but after passing through numerous annoying traps.

Progress:

The group spots few duergar arguing about lost gold and a deal - with a "pile of bones" that didn't go well. They complain that the trade was promised and then refused...

The adventurers approach, and after spending some gold, get responses from the duergar.

It seems that the undead were sightest far in the wilds, heading towards the area with driders in them.

The group departs in that direction, but along the way, runs into large amount of traps, barricades, and corpses. Killed myconids and later, driders.

At some point they lose the way but spot lack of traps and barricades early.

They find an area with large number of undead placing barrels near a wall. And a couple of vampires.

Once again, the undead are willing to speak. The discussion of items being sought follows.

But eventually the adventurers receiv an offer to participate in capture of some creature. They reluctantly accept it.

The wall is blown up and the tunnel almost collapses, but the undead march inside.

inside the cave a large drider covers in fear. The undead attempt to threaten it into giving up. The drider attempts to resist, but it is in vain. It is heavily wounded and then captured.

Name: Answers in the Dark
Location: Rockrun, Blackrock
Type: Search/Social/Combat.

Description: Few surfacers make their way into rockrun and are pestering the local inhabitants with the question, trying to locate... something.

Outcome: After an encounter with a large undead force that, surprisingly didn't end up in a bloodbath, the group leaves with a list of items... that look very puzzling.

Progress:
Hidden: show
Few adventurers of surface origin are present in rockrun, with the purpose of tracking down a map of tunnels they found.

For whatever reason they decide to visit a gem merchant and a offer him a gem appraised. The merchant looks over the gem, and proclaims that rather than a gemstone this one is a magical item that would require a mage to appraise its value. The advneturers leave the merchant, and walk towards the gates of rockrun, eventually leaving the village.

They continue to walk throuhg labyrinth of upperdark, that are lit with purple mushrooms., seemingly going in random directions.

In their path, they encounter four duergar that are arguing about something. The notice the surfacers and sneer at them, but are wary of trying to start combat due to large numbers.

The surfacers attempt to deceive duergar into thinking that one of them is a drow maiden with their slaves, but the attempts of deception are not skilled. Few of the adventurers attempt to scare the duergar, but the gray dwarves do not budge, and have no fear of dying. It looks like the fight is inevitable, but in the end some lucky phrase that was more diplomatic deescalates the encounter, and gray dwarves decide to mind their own business, They walk away and disappear in one of the tunnels.

The adventurers continue and encounter one more person along the way with whom they start arguing. Eventually that person walks away.

Finally, in the black rock, near frozen lakes, they encounter - by pure chance - their target. A group of undead - and a very large one - fortified an area near the frozen lake, perhaps temporarily.

The group starts discussing what to do, as the forces are large and a victory - if possible - is not going to be easy. And the undead's master is nowhere in sight.

One brave halfling steps away from the group, approaches the barricades closer and attempts to parley. And once again, the undead are willing to talk.

A long conversation ensues, with mockering of the surfacers that stood in path of the group so many times. But it seems that some of the halflings words struck interest, and, once again, the undead gives out a scroll with list of items they seek.

The halfling returns to the group, and the group discuss list of items. The list is bizzare and more than a few are baffled with the selection.

As they chat among themselves, the undead are starting to pack up the barricades and prepare to leave. One more person appraoches them with a few question, and receives answer to some of them.

The undead and adventurers go their separate ways.

Name: A memory of fire.
Location: Ulgoth's Beard
Type: Combat/Investigation.

Description: A group of people is blissfully discussing some recent events completely unaware of a blue glowing light that is closing in on their location....

Outcome:
The group returns to their location, with a set of incomplete notes at hand. There are many questiosn unanswered.

Progress:
Hidden: show
The group fails to notice a blue glowing light that is slowly moving to their location.

Until the light is too close. A harmles looking blue orb flickers, appears in the middle of the group, and expands, engulfing them all.

They appear to be elsewhere, although some of them recognize the area as an illusion.

This is a town, or its surroundings, engulfed in flames. The roads are covered with corpses and blood.

A fire appears behind the adventurers, forcing them to move forward. Before them, a woman wearing a heavy armor is kneeling in front of one of the bodies, with her shoulders shaking.

She turns back to look at the group, and her beautiful face displays anger.

She points at one of the adventurers and yells "Betrayer! How dare you show your face here after all you have done!".

The adventurers attempt to negotiate, but the attempts are futile. Proclaiming the holy name of Tyr, the woman attacks them, fiercely.

The combat is difficult, but eventually the paladin falls. Whispering "forgive me..." before dying.

The corpses along the road start moving, and raise, then burst in flames. They accuse the adventurers of t heir demise and attack. Flaming skeletal horses walk through the flames and join the battle as well.

The fight is difficult, and more and more of the burning peopel join the fight, yelling more and more accusations. As more of them falls, the ground shook, and collosal flaming horse walks into the fight, knocking one of the buildings down.

The adventurers defeat it, and it falls. Yet more are ready to attack....

In the middle of the fight, and explosion occurs in a castle that stood on the nearby hill, and a pillar of light rose from it. Then the light engulfed the area.

The adventurers found themselves elsewhere. A room, seemingly underground. Filled with scattered books, with unfinished portal arc standing in the distant of it. In the center of the room, there was a corpse of a dead man. Next to him a bat is flapping wings, squaeking sorrowfully. Six fiends are standing nearby surrounding the corpse and looking at it. They notice the new arrival and turn to face them.

Then one of them smirks cruelly and they vanish. The bat squeks few more time, and draws its last breath, falling on the ground.

The room is silent, safe for flames burning at the corners.

The adventurers investigate the room and find several items. Recognizing that the area is illusory, they attempt to copy some of the notes, hurrying up and using magic spells....

Yet they're still not quick enough.

The area around them fades and they found themselves back at Ulgoth's Beard, before they're finished.

Name: Beauty and Undeath
Type: Social/Investigation/Combat.
Location: Beregost, Beregost forest.

Description: Two rangers enter beregost's inn and discuss situation in the forest. They speak of numerous zones where grass is wilting, and also mention some undead tracks... which catch attention of nearby adventurers

Progress:
Hidden: show
One of the adventurers approach the rangers and introduces himself as a priest. The choice of god provokes positive reaction, and the rangers speak more.

Apparently song of morning temple hired them to verify that the wolf threat is indeed gone. They speak of damaged areas that will probably heal, over time, but... mention that they saw undead tracks at the edge of the zone they were assigned to patrol And they were unsure what to do with this. They hinted that the undead could be heading towards Corm op, reaching wood forest or even soubar. SOmewhere north.

The adventurers decided to investigate. And departed towards the area the rangers spoke of.

They arrived at the edge of location filled with wilting grass and with occasional corpses of small creatures scattered about. THey immediately encounter what seems to be a starving pack of wolves. The wolves warily observe the group that seems to be powerful. The adventurers scare the wolves with light and magic, without fightingt hem.

They scout further ahead, and it would seem they're in luck. In distance they see a group of undead that is surrounding a captive creature... that seems to be a horse, of sorts?

They investigate closer. The "horse" turns out to be a captive unicorn, with minor scrapes, but alive and tied up as to prevent it from running away.

The adventurers attempt to devise a plan and attempt negotiating with the group of undead creatures. One of the adventuyrers approach the undead and speaks up. Long discussion ensurs, going back and forth and eventually ends up in stalemate. The undead do not let the creature go.

And the adventurers start a fight.

Somehow, they emerge victorious and, once again, the death knight crumbles to dust.

The unicorn is freed.

The group returns to beregost.

Name: (Undead) Slayers of Orcs.
Location: Woods of Sharpteeth.
Type: Investigation/Combat.
Description: Citizens of certain elven village decide to investigate nearby forest for traces of undead activity - as a somewhat late followup to an event that happened more than a week ago.

Outcome: The group returns victorious and alive... although one of the adventurers struggles to holds ruined attire that was sliced by a powerful hit that should've been fatal.

Progress:
Hidden: show
The adventurers walk through the forest but find little new, as the fight was over a week ago, and the trail has gone cold.
However, they seem to be in luck. They see traces of negative energy, and signs of battle.
There's blood on ground, and upon investigating it further, they locate telltale signs of combat that occured near the orc cave.

The trail of blood and bodies leads inside...

Inside they find more bodies and blood splattered across the walls. And one scared orc hiding. The orc is cornered and questioned, fairly quickly. He speaks about dark figures slaughtering entire tribe. And speaks of a shaman that told "not to run, but fight" and how that shaman is now dead.

The adventurers let the orc go. Bleeding heavily, he limps towards the exit, and it is unclear whether he makes it out of the cave alive or not.

They proceed further below, to the bottom floor. And there they witness two armed figures talking to the orc chief who seems to be begging for his life.

The adventurers recognize the figures as undead, and approach. The figures notice it and execute the chief as the adventurers get close. With jusat one swing of a halberd.

They attempt to speak, but the adventurers are not in the talking mood.
The fight starts and.... one well placed spell wipes out both of the targets. They crumble into ash.

Except that one more was waiting in nearby tunnel and attacks the group. There's no well-placed spell this time around, but the group survives and the attacker is dispatched.

The adventurers investigate the cave and the dear orc chief.... but find nothing of note.

They depart and return back home.

Name: Undead Legion
Location: Northern Tradeway/DM Map
Type: Combat, Negotiations, Investigation, Encounter

Description: The ground itself shakes as a truly massive force of undead makes its way through northern region, passes by soubar, and turns towards reaching woods. Few alarmed adventurers attempt to investigate the occurence.

Outcome: It could've gone worse, but the adventurers return to soubar with 3 corpses in their posession, burying one of them along the way. They discuss the events and contemplate future plans, as one of them grabs a shovel and heads back...

Progress:
Hidden: show
The force passes through region, leaving wilted grass and occasional slaughtered animal in its way.

Few adventurers notice the trail and attempts to investigate. It is quite obvious that the number of creatures passing through is quite large.

As they talk about the situation, a wounded merchant with a sole remaining bodyguard stumble from the way undea headed. The adventurers heal the merchant and the soldier, and the merchant complains about lost goods and lost protifts. Also dead guards.

By his words, his caravan was attacked and utterly destroyed by hail of arrows, to the point where nothing is left that could be salvaged. The adventurers attempt to entice the guard into joinign them, but the wounded guard firmly refuses. In the end the merchant decides to head to soubar along with his last guard, to hand over the guard his pay and bonus, and probably get drunk while thinking about future.

The adventurers decide to follow the "army".

They walk along the trail, and eventually they catch up with the force that stopped for a while.

They see large number of archers, few foot soldiers. Many undead appear to be incredibly powerful and strangely well equipped. A seemingly sentient skeletal knight stands in front of them.

As adventurers approach, the knight walks towards them, and address the living, its words are seeping with anger, and malice. The creature radiates dread.

The knight accuses adventurers of troubling their master and interfering with their affairs. It seems that they're about to get slaughtered, when somebody manages to barely turn the situation around, while speaking that they had found some of the items the master of undead sought. They offer long-sought diamonds.

Once another undead investigates the diamonds and nods, approving them, the skeletal commander contemplates. One of the adventurers cracks few jokes, the undead makes its mind, and demands repayment for the trouble caused by the living in the past. It points at that adventurer and orders to bring him close.

The group's opinion splits. Few of them do not care, and few do not wish to sacrifice a life. Those that oppose, decide to fight the undead.

A fight breaks out, the 4 adventurers of the "opposing" group are very quickly slaughtered. The skeletal knight wipes out his blade, and proclaims "In the name of our master, I bestow upon you existence unending". And raises two of the fallen as zombies.

And now negotiations are possible.

One of the advntuerers asks to get the corpses of the fallen. Another offers cooperation of the group behind it. And one more asks for details.

The undead allow taking the corpses, and offer few details to the ones that request them. And claim that those remaining behind has proven to be useful and are allowed to remain alive. For now.

The skeletal army starts moving away to their unspecified "order". For some reason they leave adventurers turned into zombeis behind.

The remaining few look at the zombies, and decide to slay them in order to raise them, once again, as living.

One of the adventurers teleports to safety, while remaining two head to soubar. Along the way, they encounter, once again, an armored figure that roams those lands seeking people to duel. The figure is now battered and heavily damaged. But once again, it points its blade at the adventurers, inviting them to duel. They decline, and the figure leaves, disappointing.

The party decide to bury one of their comrades instead of raising, as one of them claims that this particular adventurer sought death and wishes his life to end, and manages to convince another.

A simple tombstone stands in the northern region.

They head to soubar, find the priestess, and raise the fallen. They spring to life, and discussion and retelling of the events begin....

Druids and rangers of the druid grove were asked by a forest creature to find one of its kin that has gone missing from the forest few day ago.

The group departs and finds traces of undead presence in nearby area. Footprints of the creature follow them. The tracks suggest huge group of undead. Yet surprisingly, the group did not rampage and moved in orderly fashion.

The adventurers follow the trail, and arrive at northern tradeway, where they see three masked tieflings talking to a person that seems to be a bandit. The adventurers approach them, and attempt to speak. The tieflings don't wish to be bothered, but after exchanging few words in foreign language, decide to answer the question. They speak that a horde passed nearby but it was too big to bother attacking.

One of the adventurers seems to have taken interest in the fate of "bandit" and attempt negotiating release. The negotiations don't go well, and eventuallly the adventuerer gives up and leaves the "bandit" to its face.

They eventually find trail leading further, and follow it, ending up, once again, in the woods. There they encounter remains of a small caravan and signs of battle.

Three figures are standing further away, and the adventurers decide speak with them. The figures speak in an odd dialect, but respond to questions. They claim that they saw no horde dragging a captured victim, and ask a few questions themselves. Then adventurers head back.

They return back to Soubar and find a recently uncovered grave, while running into another adventurer. The grave is empty, and its tomb stone is overturned. A single name is written on it....

They investigate tracks that keep moving further to soubar, and along the route they encounter an armored figure. One of the adventurers attempt to get closer and investigate it.... and almost get accidenatlly killed by a sudden movement.

The figure challenges one of the members of the group. And wins effortlessly. It leaves, seemingly disappointed.

The party resumes their walk to soubar, and meet with local priestess, to question her.
Like the settlement, the priestess seems a bit rough, but she answers questions after a "donation". She describes people that brought dead recently, and then mentioned someone bringing in a knight.

As she continues speaking another person comes by, and the priests poitns that person out. That's the one she spoke of.

The adventurers shift their attention and continue discussing further.

Name: Sudden adventure
Type: Encounter/Investigation/Combat

Description: In a relative safety of an inn, few adventurers are discussing personal matters.
A blue light floats up in the middle of the room they're in, blinking slowly....

Outcome: Confused, the adventurers are back where they started, with many questions and no answers.

The light stops blinking for a moment, and then expands, swallowing the room the adventurers are in.

They find themselves elsewhere.

There's a burning human town, with smoke rising into the skies. It is rainign and the road is littered with blood and corpses.

A woman is kneeling near one of the dead bodies ahead. Her shoulders are shaking.

She stands up, wipes her eyes with an armored glove, turns around and approaches the group.

She looks over the and then point her sword at them, accusing. She speaks and accuses them of something they might not have commited. Then she charges into attack.

The adventurers are victorious and the woman falls down, slain. She whispers something with her dying breath.

The corpses on the ground stirs, stand up and burst in flames. Then attack the adventurers screaming and accusing. More flaming creatures join the battle, and when it all appears to finally go silent, a big figure lands from the sky, speaks few words and proceeds to attack.

And then it is all gone. A pillar of light emerges from nearby castle, and engulfes the area.

They're elsewhere. A tomb, with scattered books, and a corpse of an old man lying in a magic circle. And fiends surrounding him. A small bat is flapping wings near the corpse, frantically and squeaks in sorrow.

The fiends notice the group, one of them smiles, cruelly, to the adventurers and they disappear.

The bat stops flapping its wings and drops dead near the corpse.

They're now in an empty room, with no other movement about.

A short while later, they find themselves returned to their original location. With more questions and no answers.
