Anyone know of Gladiator Arena Manager type of games?

Unread post by Sun Wukong »

I want to run a gladiator arena. But the only game of that sort that I know is the following: http://www.seppos.net/gladiator/

So does one of you know of other suggestions?

Closest I could find, specifically with the management aspect, is Elysium: Blood Games. Never played it myself, and the reviews are mixed, but currently on sale until September 3rd for 80 cents, if you want to take a gamble.

Out of things that I have played, from what I remember, Exanima had a game mode which was essentially gladiatorial combat. You would have multiple fighters, have to purchase equipment for them, and the use them in fights in order to win more money, rotate fighters in order to wait for some to heal, etc. Doesn't have as much on the management side as Elysium sounds to have, and Exanima's combat mechanics are very unique (physics-based and isometric), which could be a turn-off if you're not into that kind of thing.

Castle Crashers has an Arena mode. Not sure that's the right 'style' you're looking for, but the SP campaign is damn fun

Some of the minibosses just make you

Age of Gladiators II: Rome just released on Steam a week or so ago. Haven't played it yet but I did enjoy the first one.

Probably not exactly what you were looking for, but I remember a game when I was a kid called Centurion. You can have a stable of Gladiators and occasionally control them in fights, hold chariot races, go to war with nearby States and control the battle tactics. It's kind of a mishmash of Strategy game, Civilizations style game and arcade mini-games. It's also about 30 years old, but since you play NWN2 I suppose you're probably ok with playing old games. :P I haven't played the game since the early 90's, but I recall it being pretty fun. A quick search didn't show the game on GoG or Steam, but it does show up on some of the Abandonware sites.
