OK, time to make a workable build for a ridiculous concept.
Today's concept: Shovel Knight.
For those of you who don't know, Shovel Knight is a 2D side scrolling game where the main character's weapon is... a shovel.
So, that's the main theme for this build. He will use a shovel as a weapon. Aside from that, go for it. Man-at-arms, Monkey Grip, what have you.
Let's see what kind of build you folks can come up with. All for fun, of course.

Quarterstaff has a shovel appearance.
Basically, I would go for a Dwarven Battlerager.
Barbarian 21/Fighter 4/Battlerager 5.
I watched the game trailer, and from a role-playing perspective it all comes to one. You dig stuff because you are a dwarf. You got a helm with massive horns, just like most battleragers do. You can do some charge attack thing, which in this game is basically Dire Charge granted by the battlerager PRC. You do things with strength, which barbarians basically have. You sit at some campfire in wilderness, and you got the Survival skill from Barbarian.
Fighter lets you get some extra feats and all that so you can tower-shield monkey grip the shovel.

And this is NOT a ridiculous build, I successfully played this character for several years!
