Builds question - Turner
Hello,
I really like some of the custom content on the server. I want to play a cleric, which is soemthing i have not done in quite a while. I wanted to ask, if the turn undead ability stacks with the following classes:
Cleric + Morninglord of Lathander + Hierophant.
Havent thought it through completely, but obviously a strong turner, good healer and positive/negative energy manipulator.
Thoughts anyone?
M

Re: Builds question - Turner
Those classes stack regarding Turn Undead. Hierophant even has some pickable class features to enhance Turn Undead further.
You may want to have a look into Epic Divine Might, Divine Spellpower (and possible advanced divine spellpower from hierophant) and Planar Turning (Req. are lowered to CHA 21 on the server). That all seem to be nice routes to build a char.
By the way Harper Priest also has a pickable Class feature which allows full turn undead progressiin. But the class needs two feats to qualify.

It should work.

How useful is a pure Paladin 30 as a turner with cha26+8 ? And is planar turning useful for him ?

Re: Builds question - Turner
It should be far better than a regular non-turning focused cleric to be honest. You can also go for a Great Smite build with the above, and your regular Divine Might and Divine Shield will both last for 14 rounds while dealing and granting the same as Damage and/or AC.Theodore01 wrote:How useful is a pure Paladin 30 as a turner with cha26+8 ? So all in all, it should work too. (You can get some turn undead improving feats too, you know.)

Hello,
thanks for the replys.
Does Epic Divine Might still require STR 21 and CHA 21?

Hello Again,
Do the special Hierophant special abilities of Blast Infidel and Faith Healing stack with the meta magic feats of empower spell and/or maximize spell?
Does anyone know?

Re: Builds question - Turner
Blast Infidel & Faith Healing are completely useless feats except to double the damage/healing of Harm/Heal specifically. All other cure X or cause wounds X spells simply have their dice doubled, making them empty, useless froth at best for any spell besides 6th level Harm/Heal.
If your build isn't based around having double damage Harms/Heals, I wouldn't bother taking either feat at all.
Examples:
Cure Light Wounds is 1d8+5. With Faith Healing, this would be 2d8 +5.
Cure Moderate Wounds is 2d8+10. With Faith Healing, this would be 4d8+10
Cure Serious Wounds is 3d8+15. With Faith Healing, this would be 6d8+15.
Cure Critical Wounds is 4d8+20. With Faith Healing, this would be 8d8+20.
Cure Mass Light Wounds is 1d8+25. With Faith Healing, this would be 2d8+25.
Heal is 10 hp/CL to max 150. With Faith Healing, this would be 20 hp/CL to max 300.
Cure Mass Moderate Wounds is 2d8+30. Wit Faith Healing, this would be 4d8+30.
Cure Mass Serious Wounds is 3d8+(35*). With Faith Healing, this would be 6d8+(35*).
Cure Mass Critical Wounds is 4d8+(40*). With Faith Healing, this would be 8d8+(40*).
*Only if the Cleric used Hierophant Spell Power & Divine Spell Power to increase their caster level beyond 30 at level 30.
Empower/Maximise will still apply to the base dice, esp. in the case of having a cleric with the Healing domain (automatic empowered healing).

Re: Builds question - Turner
Hello Again,
i have a few more observations/questions.
Going for Morninglord of Lathander and Hierophant is my plan, which Means the healing domain would be off limits to me. Faith Healing and/or Blast Infidel doing double die damage is still pretty cool, inflict wounds spell is one of the few attack spells of the cleric available at every spell level.
Would it be a good path to do either of the following as a Cleric/Morninglord/Hierophant:
1. Go for Spell Focus: Summoning, Greater Spell Focus: Summoning, Augment Summoning, Beckon the Frozen, and eventually Epic Spell Focus: Summoning. The HD bonus from focus + two others summoning augment feats would make any summoning spells much more powerful. At the same time if comboed with Faith Healing, any healing spell spontaneous cast would do double dice damage and have a high DC for undeads to save againt. Especially if you also have Master of Energy and Advanced Divine Spell Power used to boost spells.
2. Go for Spell Focus: Necromancy, Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy, Arcane Defense: Necromancy, and eventually Epic Spell Focus: Necromancy. Memorizing inflict spells comboed with Blast Infidel for double dice damage and high save DC could be powerful i think? At the same time it would still be possible to spontaneous cast healing spells if needed. Again, with Master of Energy and Advanced Spell Power to boost spells, would this be effective?
I would go for the spell penetration chain in either case, as well as some extend spell, possibly spell casting prodigy.
Let me know what you think and thanks for the advice/knowledge i was already given.

Either will work, but I think the first would better fit a cleric of Lathander.

Re: Builds question - Turner
I have two follow up question.
To my knowledge it does not specificly state anywhere that hierophant levels stack with cleric and morninglord levels for the purpose of turning, but they indeed do! which makes me happy.
now my question is, what about the hospitaler? they are devine casters, and they have spellcasting progression, although not full caster progression, do levels in hospitaler stack with cleric, hierophant and morninglord for the purpose of turning undead.
and second, hospitaler does not have full caster levels, can the lack of these caster levels 6/10 be outweighed by practiced spellcaster cleric?
thanks in advance.

It says so in the wiki under "Class Features"MaskedOne1 wrote:To my knowledge it does not specificly state anywhere that hierophant levels stack with cleric and morninglord levels for the purpose of turning, but they indeed do! which makes me happy.
Hospitaler does not grant or progress Turn Undead.MaskedOne1 wrote:now my question is, what about the hospitaler? they are devine casters, and they have spellcasting progression, although not full caster progression, do levels in hospitaler stack with cleric, hierophant and morninglord for the purpose of turning undead.
Yes, a Cleric (or FvS or Paladin or Spirit Shaman or Druid) 20/Hospitaler 10 with Practiced Spellcaster will have CL30.MaskedOne1 wrote:and second, hospitaler does not have full caster levels, can the lack of these caster levels 6/10 be outweighed by practiced spellcaster cleric?
