And additionally, to the OP, the Red Wizards of Thay have many reasons to be disliked...in-character and per Lore.
Playing a RWoT is about role-play within an archetype. And yes, that can be said about a wide range—perhaps all...—of D&D slash Forgotten Realms Types (Classes, Race, etc.). At least for me, that is part of the Fun.
So to play a RWoT is to play out THAT archetype. And honestly, that kind of RP isn't for everyone, or to say it another way, that kind of RP also takes a certain type of Player.
Unfortunately, and because we also in most instances aren't sitting around a table together and can experience each other face to face, the IC and the OOC gets confused up and the experience—you know..,that thing we do here for FUN—gets convoluted.
I'll just add/end it with my own experience, and that is that the RWoT guild leadership, both in the past (JCVD1) and present (Infernal Dave) are players that have dedication to their RP, and it takes a bit of understanding and acceptance of what Players build up when joining a Group...and if you are only about changing up the program to suit your own storytelling idea, and NOT working toward storyBUILDING with others you will: a) not fit in; b) piss people off (even unintentionally); c) get rejected.
PS— many of you are taking the "traitor" statement totally out of context. It refers to "going rogue" out from the RWoT structure. If you can/could get DM approval to be a RWoT and NOT be a part of the RWoT guild on BGTSCC, then...that is a decision/policy on the DMs, who have decided to interpret the Lore their way.

Infernal Dave wrote:*ahem* I am the guild leader, OOCly and ICly, and I've never once spoken to you prior to right now. I've been involved with the guild in varying capacities since early 2011, and just about everything you've written concerning the past and present of the guild is either off or outright wrong. The only thing I can't speak to is the last year, because I was on a break from the server and not playing - this seems to be when you encountered the guild, and seem to have had a bad time of it. Sorry for that, but you should know that everybody from that time period are no longer affiliated with the guild, and we have considerably more history going back years and years to the very beginning of the server with a tremendous amount of merchant and political themed, very deep RP. We're not conquerors laying siege to towns, we're not Chaotic Stupid, and we're not at all as you have characterized us here. If that was your impression of the guild at the time of your interaction - ok, again I can't speak to that particular point in time. But I can speak to everything before it and everything now, and nothing you said is true with respects to then and now.
Sure cool story bro. Lol. Well I'm certainly reluctant to believe you. Having been the only independent and banned from the guild. Maybe that was your acting leadership during your absence. Now I've been to candle keep. The people there spoke directly about the guild laying siege to it.
That's as far as I know PW lore. Infact when I joined the server open hostility and chaotic stupid is all the other players spoke of about Thay. I remember selling potions and players would come up and say F U Thayan than demand you leave or die. The scholarship at candle keep when submitting works spoke at length about the local enclave. As an Lawful evil PC I used my subtle roleplaying to be welcomed to contribute works to candle keep last I played On was working on a treaties of the using magic for every day task offense to the gods. Now I've had long conversations about the behaviour of red wizards.
You're more than welcome to refute that in a PM but from what I've seen and hear your statements don't seem to line up.
No offense intended. I'm more than welcome to discuss this with you privately.

I don't care if you believe me, your ridiculous frothing-at-the-mouth hostility makes it pretty clear that you're butthurt about whatever happened between you and the guild to the point that you're willing to write paragraphs ranting about something from a year ago. Like I said, I was involved very heavily with the guild, including about two years as guild leader, from 2011 - 2016. Over that time we encountered a handful of independent Red Wizards who for various reasons didn't want to join the guild. Guess what we did about it? Absolutely nothing. We kept tabs on their activities but otherwise let them do their thing, and eventually they fizzled out with no interference from us. In all that time we only had to kill one traitor RWoT - and he was actually a traitor, as in a guild member who went renegade and tried to destroy the Enclave. Try to pull your head out of your ass long enough to see that maybe your apparently very negative experience with the guild, which again I apologize for, might have been something outside the norm and is not how we used to do things, nor how we do things now. Shoot me a PM if you want to actually talk this out and be reasonable, because I'm pretty sure we're going to get this thread locked.Oldmanodin wrote:
